PERSONATION, OBSTRUCT, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on June 4th, 2015 and charged with personation, obstruct police and breach of undertaking for communicating with someone she has conditions not to communicate with and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on June 4th, 2015 the youth was spotted communicating with the person she has conditions not to communicate with and identified herself as someone else to police. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – Kimberly Laird, 34 of Cornwall was arrested on June 4th, 2015 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the woman breached her probation order and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On June 4th, 2015 the woman was located at her residence, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and later released with a future court date.

 

Cornwall, ON – Tiffany Johnson, 26 of St.Regis was arrested on June 5th, 2015 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on August 26th, 2010 for a possession of property obtained by crime charge and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On June 5th, 2015 members of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended Montreal and took the woman into custody on the strength of the warrant. She was transported to Cornwall and held for a bail hearing.

 

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Matthew Labbe, 24 of Cornwall was arrested on June 5th, 2015 and charged with breach of recognizance for being outside his residence without his surety. It is alleged on June 5th, 2015 the man was spotted outside his residence without his surety by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on June 6th, 2015 and charged with breaching her probation for being out past curfew and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged in the early morning hours of June 6th, 2015 the youth was spotted breaching her curfew by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. Her name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

ASSAULT

 

Cornwall, ON – Donald Peddle, 43 of Cornwall was arrested on June 5th, 2015 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an argument on June 5th, 2015 the man grabbed a 44-year-old man known to him by the throat and police were contacted to investigate. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collision

June 6, 2015

Time – approximately 7:45 pm.

Location – Dixon Rd. Augusta Township. Private property

ATV strikes Pickup truck. ATV driver, 20 year old male from Deseronto taken by air ambulance to a hospital in Ottawa with non-life threatening injuries. ATV passenger, 20 year old male from Greater Nappanee taken by ambulance to hospital in Brockville with non-life threatening injuries. Investigation is continuing.

Motor Vehicle Collision

June 6, 2015

Time – approximately 2:50 am.

Location – Dixon Rd.  Augusta Township, Private property.

Male victim sleeping under a parked vehicle and was injured when struck by that vehicle when driven away. Injured male taken by ambulance to hospital in Brockville with minor non-life threatening injuries.

Impaired Driver – Public Intoxication

June 6, 2015

Time – approximately 7:25 pm

Location – Jessup St. Prescott

Police attended a residence on Jessup St. to investigate a complaint of ongoing fighting and drinking. Investigation led to the arrest of 3 persons. A 32 year old female from Prescott was arrested for public intoxication. A 38 year old male from Prescott was arrested for public intoxication.  A 45 year old male from Prescott was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and exceed 80 and is to appear in court at a later date.

Impaired Driving

June 6, 2015

Time – approximately 6:20 pm

Location – Brown Rd. E in Augusta Township

While patrolling on Brown Rd. traveling west police observed an ATV traveling east towards the cruiser. The ATV was traveling at a high rate of speed and slammed on its brakes stopping just before the cruiser. The driver failed the roadside test and was arrested and taken to the Prescott Detachment where two breath samples were obtained. The driver, a 25 year old female from Kingston has been charged with Exceed 80 and is to appear in court at a later date.

Liquor License Act Charges 

June 5th, 2015 at approximately 4:15 pm. Vehicle stop 401 highway westbound east of Cardinal in Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Township.  Open liquor. 22 year old male from Cornwall, 23 year old male from Cornwall and 18 year old male from South Stormont Township. All charged under the Liquor License Act.

June 5th, 2015 at approximately 4:05 pm. Dixon Rd. in Augusta Township. Vehicle stop with open alcohol. Driver charged.

June 5th, 2015 at approximately 3:25 pm. Traffic stop on County Rd. 15 in Augusta Township. Two 16 year old males charged with drinking under age.

June 6th, 2015 at approximately 11:05 am, traffic stop on Dixon Rd. in Augusta Township. 17 year old male charged with being in possession of alcohol.

Drug Offences

Town of Prescott

June 4th, 2015

At approximately 4:25 pm on the 4th of June police observed the driver of a 2004 Hyundai CFE texting while driving in Edward St. in the Town of Prescott and stopped the vehicle. Police observed small amounts of marihuana in the vehicle and further investigation led to the arrest of both the driver and passenger. Police seized drug accessories along with marihuana, MDMA (Ecstasy) and cocaine. An 18 year old female from Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Township and a 16 year old from Brockville have been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Marihuana, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Ecstasy. Both are to appear in court at a later date.

(RUSSELL COUNTY, ON) In the week of June 1, 2015 to June 8, 2015, Russell County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 247 occurrences. Among those occurrences OPP responded to 7 collisions, 6 thefts and 4 domestics.

As a result of those occurrences, 46 people were charged with various offences.

Assault

(Rockland, ON)  On June 1, 2015 OPP Constables responded to domestic related incident on McDermitt Road in Rockland. At that location a female reported being assaulted and also reported other ongoing issues.

A 43 year old male, from Clarence-Rockland will have to appear in L’Orignal court on June 17, 2015 to answer to the following charges:

CC 266 Assault – Spousal X2

Break and Enter

(Casselman, ON)  On June 2, 2015 OPP Constable Anne Christine Gauthier was investigating a matter when she was informed of another matter that took place in 2013. Investigation revealed that a female being interviewed was responsible for a break and enter at a Chip Stand on Racine Street in Casselman.

Martine LAROCQUE-Renaud, 23 years old from Casselman will have to appear in L’Orignal court on July 8, 2015 to answer to the following charges:

CC 430(4) Mischief Under $ 5,000

CC 348(1)(a) Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence

Drugs

(Embrun, ON)  On June 3, 2015 OPP Constables were on patrol and stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Notre-Dame Street in Embrun. Police computer verification revealed that the driver was unlicensed. Further investigation led to the discovery of illegal drugs and other offences.

Andrew Charles SIGNORE, 35 years old from Embrun will have to appear in L’Orignal court on July 22, 2015 to answer to the following charge:

CDSA 4(1) Poss of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

The driver will also have to appear in L’Original traffic court on July 2, 2015 to answer to the following charge:

MSVA 12(1) Drive – no insurance

He was also issued a provincial offence notice for the following infraction:

HTA 7(1)(c(i)) Drive motor vehicle, no validation on plate

Assault

(Casselman, ON)  On June 3, 2015 OPP Constables responded to a domestic related incident on Albert Street in Casselman. At that location a male and female were discussing the statues of their relationship when an argument started. At one point the male assaulted the female.

A 39 year old male, from Embrun will have to appear in L’Orignal court on June 8, 2015 to answer to the following charges:

CC 266 Assault – Spousal X2

 

Threats

(Russell, ON)   On May 30, 2015 OPP Constables responded to a domestic related incident on First Avenue in Russell. At that location a female reported receiving threatening text messages from her ex-partner. The officers investigated the matter and conclude that an offence had been committed.

A 21 year old male, from Embrun will have to appear in L’Orignal court on June 24, 2015 to answer to the following charge:

CC 264.1(1)(a) Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm

Harassment

(Casselman, ON)  On June 4, 2015 OPP Constables responded to a domestic related incident on Route 600 West in Casselman. At that location a female reported being harassed by her ex-partner. The officers investigated the incident and at the same time were informed of other ongoing issues.

A 30 year old male, from Casselman will have to appear in L’Orignal court on June 24, 2015 to answer to the following charges:

CC 264(1) Criminal Harassment – repeatedly follow, repeatedly communicate with, watch and beset, threatening conduct

CC 349(1) Unlawfully in Dwelling House

CC 334(b) Theft Under $5000

Drugs

(Rockland, ON)  On June 4, 2015 OPP Constables responded to a domestic related incident on Elie Crescent in Rockland. At that location it was reported that a male and female were having a loud argument. The officers investigated the complaint and came across illegal drugs.

A 27 year old male, from Rockland will have to appear in L’Orignal court on July 8, 2015 to answer to the following charge:

CDSA 4(1) Poss of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams

IMPAIRED DRIVERS

(South Glengarry) – On June 5, 2015 at approximately 9:06am, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop indicated that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol. Further information revealed he was in contravention of a condition imposed from a previous incident.

Muhammad IBRAHIM (34) of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired by Alcohol
– Driving a Motor Vehicle with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on July 8, 2015.
(South Stormont) – On June 7, 2015 at approximately 1:15am, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Stormont Township. The stop revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

David MITCHELL (42) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired by Alcohol
– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on July 9, 2015.

 

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS

(South Glengarry) – On June 6, 2015 at approximately 12:04am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on County Road 34, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his common-law spouse resulted in the female being assaulted and threatened. The accused also caused damage within the home.
The 43-year-old male from South Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault – Spousal
–  Utter Threats
– Mischief – Domestic

He was held in custody pending an appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
(North Glengarry) – On June 7, 2015 at approximately 4:49am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Marlborough Street, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between same sex adult male partners resulted in each assaulting the other. One male also caused damage to a vehicle.

William BAYARD-AIKMAN (23) of Gatineau, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault – Spousal
– Mischief – Domestic

Laurence FERRUSI (30) of Gatineau, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault – Spousal

Both were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 23, 2015.
(South Stormont) – On June 7, 2015 at approximately 12:29pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on County Road 18, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult female and her boyfriend resulted in the male being assaulted.

The 26-year-old female from Ottawa, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault – Spousal

She was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on July 7, 2015. The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
(South Glengarry) – On June 7, 2015 at approximately 4:05pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township.
Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his girlfriend resulted in the female being assaulted. The accused also caused damage within the home.

The 51-year-old female from Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault – Spousal
– Mischief Under $5000

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 23, 2015. The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
(South Stormont) – On June 7, 2015 at approximately 8:46pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a property on Cornwall Centre Road, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between same sex adult male partners resulted in one assaulting the other. The accused also caused damage to a vehicle.

A 30-year-old male from Gatineau, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault – Spousal
– Mischief Under $5000

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on July 7, 2015. The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

 

HOUSE FIRES

(South Glengarry) – On June 5, 2015 at approximately 3:54pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a house fire at a property on Concession 6, South Glengarry Township. Officers assisted Fire Department members with traffic control.

(North Glengarry) – On June 6, 2015 at approximately 11:34am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a house fire at a property on Glen Robertson Road, North Glengarry Township. Officers assisted Fire Department members with traffic control.

In both above incidents, the fires were deemed non-suspicious in nature.

 

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(South Glengarry/Stormont) – Over the past weekend, SD&G and Highway Safety Division (HSD) OPP officers conducting speed measuring enforcement on Highway 401 intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. In all stops, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– June 6, 2015/South Glengarry – 10:21am; vehicle stopped travelling 160km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (29) from Mississauga, Ontario charged accordingly.

– June 6, 2015/South Glengarry – 11:23am; vehicle stopped travelling 151km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (28) from Mississauga, Ontario charged accordingly.

– June 6, 2015/South Stormont – 4:56pm; vehicle stopped travelling 172km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (59) from Ireland charged accordingly.

Ontario Provincial Police News Portal [LEEDS COUNTY (Brockville)] LOCAL MAN CHARGED WITH BARN ARSON 2015-06-08

(LEEDS, ON.) –   Officers of the Leeds and the Thousand Islands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing an investigation where an 18 year old man was charged with arson after a barn fire.
On the 7th of June 2015 at about 8 pm Ontario Provincial Police officers were notified of a structure fire on Maple Grove Road, north of Gananoque. Gananoque Fire Department, Kingston East Fire Department, as well as the Leeds And Thousand Islands Fire Department responded and extinguish a fully engulfed barn.
30 head of cattle were lost in the fire, the loss with both the cattle and structure was estimated to be in excess of 1 million dollars
18 year John SMID, of Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township has been charged with Arson, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on the 8th of June 2015 at Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Division Brockville.
The investigation continues, with the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office and OPP Identification Unit.
