Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 135 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on July 24, 2017. Of these, 78 calls occurred in the city central area, 38 in the west end, 3 in the east end, and 3 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

• 4 assault calls
• 3 harassment calls
• 5 fight/disturbance calls
• 1 custody dispute call
• 4 alarm calls
• 2 neighbour dispute calls
• 2 noise complaints
• 1 missing person call
• 4 Mental Health Act calls
• 3 medical assist calls
• 13 assist citizen calls
• 4 break and enter calls
• 13 theft calls
• 1 theft of vehicle call
• 5 mischief calls
• 3 motor vehicle collisions
• 1 impaired driving call
• 7 driving complaints
• 2 traffic concerns
• 6 suspicious activity calls

There were 5 individuals arrested within the last 24 hours including 4 men and 1 woman, between 20and 71 years of age, for the following: sexual assault, assault, assault cause bodily harm, utter threats to cause death, break and enter, theft over $5000, and utter forged cheque. One person was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Woman Lures Grandmother from Home then Breaks In

A 20-year-old Aylmer man and a 20-year-old Gatineau woman are both facing charges in relation to a local break and enter.

On June 5, 2017 the complainant received a call from her granddaughter to meet in town. The victim left her rural east residence, but the granddaughter never showed up. When the complainant returned home she discovered someone had been in her house and stolen cash, jewelry and cheques.

Detectives began investigating and confirmed the granddaughter along with her boyfriend had broken into the home after the granddaughter had intentionally lured the complainant away. The two had then gone to a bank where they cashed a stolen cheque. They attempted to cash additional cheques, but bank staff became suspicious and the two fled.

Detectives learned the two accused were somewhere in Quebec and arrest warrants were applied for.

On July 24, 2017 the female accused turned herself in at police headquarters while the male accused was picked up by Kingston Police at the Gatineau Police Headquarters in Quebec.

Both accused were held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The two accused are charged jointly with break and enter, theft over $5000, and utter forged cheque.

Man Charged after Detectives Learn of Abuse and Assaults

A 33-year-old local man has been arrested after Detectives learn of a history of abuse and assaults on his wife.

On July 24, 2017 Detectives from the sexual assault unit began investigating the accused. Detectives discovered multiple incidents dating back to 2012 including assaults, threats and sexual assaults.

At approximately 7:00 p.m. patrol officers located the accused and arrested him without incident. The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with sexual assault, assault, assault cause bodily harm, and two counts of utter threats to cause death.
