(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) and the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Unit have both laid charges against an Ottawa man following separate investigations of child pornography and an allegation of child sexual assaults.
On January 13, 2015, the ICE Unit received information from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre (NCECC) regarding a video upload of Child Pornography via Omegle.
On September 13, 2015, the SACA Unit began an investigation into historical sexual assaults on a boy under 10 years old. The sexual assaults began in the early 90s and continued over the course of several years. The victim will not be further identified.
On February 2, 2016, the ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 8000 block of Jeanne D’Arc Boulevard in Ottawa. Several computers and external digital media were seized and are being forensically analyzed.
Danny BURGESS, 54 years old, of Ottawa is charged with Accessing Child Pornography, Possession of Child Pornography, Make Available Child Pornography, Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference and Invitation to Sexual Touching.
He is scheduled to appear in court on February 3, 2106.
Investigators are concerned that there could be other victims.
