CHERYL FOURNIER & ANGELO SANSEVERINO Busted by CRTF in Tobacco Bust in Cornwall 070618

Multiple arrests and charges by CRTF.

(Cornwall, ON) On May 24th, members of the Cornwall Regional Task Force (CRTF) assisted the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) following a single vehicle accident in Morrisburg on highway 401. The investigation led the RCMP to arrest and charge Jasraj Sandhu (31), Sartaj Singh (29) and Sukhraj Amrit Sandhu (35), all of Brampton, Ontario for the Possession of Unstamped Tobacco contrary to the Excise Act (2001). The individuals were released and will appear in Morrisburg Court on August 7th, 2018 to answer to these charges. As a result of this investigation a total of 14,662kg of fine cut tobacco was seized from 2 rented cube vans.

On June 12th, 2018, following a collaborative investigation by officers of the Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA), the Ontario Ministry of Finance (MFO), the OPP and the CRTF, Cheryl Fournier (50) of Cornwall Ontario, was intercepted by the OPP on Highway 401. She was found to be in possession of 78,950 grams of manufactured tobacco and 636 cigars. Fournier was turned over to CRTF officers for further investigation. On June 27, 2018, CRTF officers arrested and charged Angelo Sanseverino aged 51 of Cornwall in relation to this event. Both subjects are facing charges of possession of unstamped tobacco products under the Excise Act (2001) as well as Ontario Tobacco Tax Act charges. Fournier and Sanseverino were released on a promise to appear in Cornwall Court on July 31st, 2018.

As a result of this investigation a total of 25 cases of chewing tobacco, pipe tobacco and cigars were seized, along with a 2014 Dodge Journey.
