Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 386 calls for service over the weekend of July 27-29, 2018. Of these, 278 calls occurred in the city central area, 76 in the west end, 20 in the east end, and 5 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

• 6 shoplifting calls
• 2 theft of vehicle calls
• 12 mischief calls
• 4 fraud calls
• 13 motor vehicle collisions
• 1 impaired driving call
• 4 parking/vehicle complaints
• 17 driving complaints
• 4 traffic concerns
• 35 suspicious activity calls
• 1 trespass/prowler call

There were 17 individuals arrested over the weekend of July 27-29, 2018 including 8 men and 9 women, between 15 and 43 years of age, for the following: four counts of theft, cause disturbance, utter threats to caused death, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, robbery, possession of a weapon for committing an offence, obstruct police, cause disturbance, three counts of fraud, two counts of utter forged documents, possession of stolen property , assault, two counts of public intoxication, eight counts of breach recognizance, and thirteen counts of breach probation. Four persons were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Youth Robs Family at Knife Point

On July 27, 2018 the victims made contact with the accused through an online sales App in regards to purchasing a used cellphone. The victims drove to an apartment building where the accused resided and into the back lot where he asked them to meet. At approximately 5:15 p.m. the accused approached their vehicle and once the transaction was completed he brandished a large kitchen knife. The accused held the knife against the female victim’s chest, causing the children in the back seat to begin screaming and crying while he demanded they give back the cellphone. The accused then ran back to his apartment with the cellphone and cash, as the family fled in their vehicle.

Responding officers contained the building and quickly identified and located the accused in his residence. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

A 15-year-old local youth is charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for committing an offence, two counts of breach recognizance, and two counts of breach probation.

Drugs, Threats, and Probation results in multiple charges for 4 Shoplifters

Over the weekend of July 27-29, 2018 four shoplifters were caught, two while carrying drugs, one after causing a disturbance, and one while exiting a store with stolen goods as an officer was driving by. All four shoplifters are now facing multiple charges.

On July 27, 2018 at approximately 7:45 p.m. the accused stole approximately $50 worth of candy from a store in the 2400 block of Princess Street. While in the store and then in a nearby coffee shop, the accused drew attention to himself by yelling and screaming at customers. Responding officers located the accused yelling and screaming at residences of a nearby apartment building. Officer pursued the accused into a unit and arrested him. Once he was lodged in the rear of the police cruiser, the accused threatened to kill the officer and his family.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day. A 34-year-old local man is charged with theft, cause disturbance, and utter threats to caused death.

On July 28, 2018 at approximately 10:30 a.m. the accused stole shoes from a store in the 800 block of Princess Street. The accused was stopped by security as she exited the store wearing the new shoes and carrying her old ones. The responding officer arrested the accused and during a search a quantity of suspected hydromorphone was found.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where she was later released on conditions with a future court date. A 39-year-old local woman is charged with theft, and possession of a controlled substance.

On July 29, 2018 at approximately 10:30 a.m. the accused attended a store on Barrack Street where he concealed frozen treats in his shorts and then left without paying. A patrol officer driving in the area observed security attempting to arrest the accused. The officer exited the cruiser and observed the accused had a box of popsicles stuffed in his waistband. The officer took control of the accused and arrested him.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day. A 28-year-old local man is charged with theft, and three counts of breach probation.

On July 29, 2018 at approximately 4:15 p.m. the accused stole approximately $46 in personal products from a store on Barrack Street. The accused was apprehended by security and held until police arrived. During a search the accused was found to have a quantity of suspected marijuana and crystal methamphetamine.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where she was held to attend a bail hearing the following day. A 41-year-old local woman is charged with theft, possession of a controlled substance, and breach probation.
