Charges laid in Canada Day homicide – suspect still wanted

(Ottawa)—Today, Islam RASHED, 23 years old of Ottawa has been arrested and charged by the Major Crime Unit with Accessory after the fact to murder in relation to the homicide of Ryan Kabuya-Ntumba on July 1st in the ByWard Market.

Moadd MAADANI, 23 years old of Ottawa is still wanted in relation this homicide. A Canada Wide warrant has been issued for his arrest.

MAADANI is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, please immediately call 9-1-1.

Wanted 23 year old man in relation to July 1st homicide

(Ottawa)—Today, Ottawa Police Major Crime investigators charged Moadd MAADANI, 23 years old of Ottawa with 2nd degree murder in relation to the July 1st homicide of Ryan Kabuya-Ntumba.

A warrant has been issued for wanted Moadd MAADANI.  He is described as a Middle Eastern male, 6′ (183cm) 160 lbs (73kg), slim build with short black hair shaved on sides, dark chin strap beard (see picture).

MAADANI is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, please immediately call 9-1-1.

Update – homicide victim identified – Dalhousie and George Streets

(Ottawa)–The Ottawa Police Major Crime investigators have identified the victim of this morning’s homicide as 21 year old Ryan Kabuya-Ntumba.. 

There are no suspects in custody at this time. 

Major Crime investigators continue to seek witnesses and information.

Homicide Investigation: Dalhousie and George Streets

 (Ottawa) – Major Crime officers are investigating the homicide of a man who was shot near the intersection of George and Dalhousie streets early this morning. 

The shooting occurred at approximately 3 a.m. July 1, 2019. 

The shots were heard by nearby Ottawa Police officers who were in the area as part of an increased police presence initiative.  

Those officers self-engaged on the call, found the victim and began first aid. 

The victim succumbed to their injuries later in hospital. 

Major Crime continues to investigate and updates will follow.
