Assaults Rack Up as Police Refuse to Disclose Crime in Cornwall #CPS 121619 Only 2 of 136 Calls for Service Released.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – Cole Besner, 19, of Cornwall was arrested on December 13th, 2019 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an altercation with a man known to him, he assaulted the man and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 21st, 2020.

MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, ASSAULT WITH INTENT TO RESIST ARREST X 2, RESIST POLICE, ASSAULT POLICE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on December 13th, 2019 and charged with the following:

• Mischief under $5000
• Assault with intent to resist arrest x 2
• Assault police
• Resist police
• Breach of recognizance for consuming alcohol

It is alleged during an altercation with her mother on December 13th, 2019, the intoxicated woman damaged a window in her mother’s residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the woman assaulted and resisted police officers while being taken into custody. After a brief struggle, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held in custody for a bail hearing. Her name as not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 16th, 2019 and charged with three counts of domestic assault, as well as two counts of assault with a weapon. It is alleged between June and December, the man had assaulted his common-law-wife on three occasions. Additionally, on two occasions, the man assaulted her using a traffic cone, as well as a pair of boots. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 16th, 2019, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
