BREACH
Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on April 18th, 2020 and charged with breach of undertaking for breeching his curfew. It is alleged an officer conducted a compliance check on April 17th, 2020 and found the youth to be in breach of his conditions. The youth was located on April 18th, 2020, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
ONGOING INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN NUMEROUS CHARGES FOR CORNWALL MAN
Cornwall, ON – As a result of a joint effort by the Cornwall Police Service (CPS) Criminal Investigation Division and Community Patrol Division, an arrest has been made in relation to a series of criminal offences that had occurred in the months of March and April.
As a result of the investigation, Spencer Blanchette, 18, of Cornwall was arrested on April 18th, 2020 and charged with the following:
- Break and enter x 3
- Possession of break in instruments
- Arson – Cause damage to property
- Possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Occupant of motor vehicle taken without consent
It is alleged between March 6-7, 2020, the man entered an abandoned McConnell Avenue building and caused damage while inside. On March 27th, 2020, the man once again entered the building and was responsible for causing a fire, resulting in extensive damage to the building.
Further, between April 9-10, the man attended the Riverdale area, where he entered a resident’s garage without their permission and removed a bicycle. During the same period of time, the man took a motor vehicle that did not belong to him. A second motor vehicle was taken from the Riverdale area between April 9-10, in which the man was allegedly an occupant in the stolen vehicle. The investigation into the second stolen motor vehicle remains ongoing at this time.
During the early morning hours on April 18th, 2020, the man was located by police and was found in possession of various break-in instruments and a quantity of methamphetamine. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE
Cornwall, ON – Robert Lanoue, 47 of Cornwall was arrested on April 18th, 2020 and charged with the following:
• Individual to possess more than four cannabis plants that are not budding or flowering
• Possess cannabis for the purpose of distributing
• Individual who is 18 years of age or older to cultivate, propagate or harvest, or to offer to cultivate, propagate or harvest more than four cannabis plants at any one time in their dwelling-house
• Possess a Scheduled II substance – hashish
It is alleged police were called to a fire scene on April 13th, 2020 and discovered the man was in possession of more than his legal limit of marijuana plants and an investigation ensued. He was taken into custody on April 18th, 2020, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date.
MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – A 40-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on April 19th, 2020 and charged with mischief. It is alleged during an argument on April 19th, 2020 the woman damaged her ex-boyfriend’s door and police were contacted to investigate. She was taken into custody during the investigation, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 7th, 2020. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 19th, 2020 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an argument on April 19th, 2020 the man assaulted his ex- common-law wife and police were contacted to investigate. He was taken into custody during the investigation, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 7th, 2020. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
BREACH, ASSAULT POLICE, RESIST ARREST
Cornwall, ON – Stephen Donnelly, 20 of Cornwall was arrested on April 19th, 2020 and charged with breach of recognizance for being in possession of a weapon (knife), assault police and resist arrest. It alleged on April 19th, 2020 while investigating a disturbance at a Guy Street residence police found the man in breach of his conditions for having been in possession of a knife. While attempting to place the man under arrest he assaulted an officer and he was taken into custody after a brief struggle. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
BREACH
Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old Monkland man was arrested on April 19th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It’s alleged in March, 2020 the man breached his conditions by attending his ex-common-laws residence, despite his conditions. He also failed to report a change of address to police and was no longer residing with his surety. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was located on April 19th, 2020, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
BREAK AND ENTER, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, BREACHES
Cornwall, ON – Mohammed Chughtai, 24, Johnathan Gauthier, 20 both of Cornwall and Johnathan Carriere, 23 of Martintown were arrested on April 19th, 2020 and charged as follows:
Mohammed Chughtai :
• break and enter, commit indictable offence
• assault with a weapon
• weapons dangerous
• breach of probation x 4 counts
Jonathan Carriere:
• break and enter, commit indictable offence
• assault with a weapon
• weapons dangerous
• breach of probation x 3 counts
• breach of undertaking x 2 counts
Jonathan Gauthier :
• break and enter, commit indictable offence
• assault with a weapon
• weapons dangerous
• breach of recognizance
It is alleged on April 19th, 2020 the three men armed with various objects forced their way into a Walton Street residence. Police were contacted and located the men a short distance away. They were taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
ASSAULT, MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – Lianne Duff, 33 of Cornwall was arrested on April 19th, 2020 and charged with assault and mischief. It is alleged during an argument on April 19th, 2020 the woman struck another woman known to her and damaged her phone. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Julie Ladue, 28 of Cornwall was arrested on April 20th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on several occasions in 2019 the woman failed to sign in with police as per her conditions and a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was located on April 20th, 2020, taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.
There were 139 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the weekend (8am Friday to 8am Monday morning).
