WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old Summerstown man was arrested on December 8th, 2016 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on November 20th, 2016 the man entered his ex-girlfriend’s residence without her permission and removed her cell phone. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On December 8th, 2016 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
IDENTITY THEFT, FRAUD
Cornwall, ON – James Froats, 53 and Samantha Fisher, 40 both of Morrisburg were arrested on December 8th, 2016 and charged with identity theft and several fraud under $5000 charges. It is alleged between November, 2014 and August, 2015 bank accounts were opened using someone else’s identification and several employment insurance payments intended for that person were deposited in those accounts. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 8th, 2016 Froats and Fisher attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. They were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 12th, 2017.
IMPAIRED OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, OVER 80, POSSESSION OF COUNTERFEIT MONEY
Cornwall, ON – Hudson Cochrane, 27 of Brinston was arrested on December 9th, 2016 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, over 80 and possession of counterfeit money. It is alleged on December 9th, 2016 the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Third Street East. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop and found to be in possession of counterfeit money. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Angus Smoke, 58 of Hammond was arrested on December 9th, 2016 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to comply with his probation order and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On December 9th, 2016 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended the Port of Entry and assumed custody of the man from CBSA on the strength of the warrant. The warrant was executed and the man was held for a bail hearing.
THREATS
Cornwall, ON – Shawn McPhail, 43 of Cornwall was arrested on December 9th, 2016 and charged with threats. It is alleged on December 8th, 2016 the man threatened to harm a 47-year-old man known to him and police were contacted to investigate. On December 9th, 2016 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 12th, 2017.
THEFT
Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on December 9th, 2016 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged while at a local school the youth took a cell phone that did not belong to him and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
INDECENT ACT, MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – Kevin Jones, 45 of Cornwall was arrested on December 9th, 2016 and charged with indecent act and mischief. It is alleged in the afternoon of December 9th, 2016 the man defecated on the wall of a local establishment. Police were contacted and located the man a short distance away. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date.
ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 9th, 2016 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an argument on December 9th, 2016 the man pushed his girlfriend and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
THEFT UNDER $5000, POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME, POSSESSION OF BREAK IN TOOLS, BREACH
Cornwall, ON – Janifar Hashem, 32 of Montreal was arrested on December 10th, 2016 and charged with the following:
- Theft under X3
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Possession of B&E tool (bolt cutters)
- Breach of Probation X4 (failing to keep the peace and for attending two local gyms)
- Breach of JP Recognizance X6 (failing to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and house arrest x2, being in the driver’s seat of motor vehicle, being in possession of document that does not belong to him and attending a gym)
It is alleged on December 10th, 2016 the man attended two local gyms, cut the locks on some lockers and removed property. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was located in a parking lot on Brookdale Avenue. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
IMPAIRED, OVER 80
Cornwall, ON – Rory McLeod, 27 of North Lancaster was arrested on December 11th, 2016 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged on December 11th, 2016 the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Boundary Road. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 22nd, 2016.
ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON
Cornwall, ON – A 57-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on December 10th, 2016 and charged with assault and assault with a weapon. It is alleged during an argument on December 10th, 2016 the woman scratched her husband in the face and chest area and struck him with a back scratcher. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Coral Black, 49 of Morrisburg was arrested on December 11th, 2016 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court in January, 2016 for a theft charge and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On December 11th, 2016 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service assumed custody of the woman from OPP as they had her in custody on Cornwall’s warrant. The warrant was executed and she was released to appear in court at a later date.
