OPP CHARGE TWO PERSONS WITH STUNT DRIVING
Vehicles Seized and Drivers Licenses Suspended for 7 Days
(BROCKVILLE, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Highway Enforcement Team (ER-HET) have charged two persons with Stunt Driving after an incident on Highway 401 near Brockville on Saturday afternoon.
At approximately 5pm, two motor vehicles were observed by an OPP member travelling together westbound on Highway 401 at a high rate of speed. Both vehicles were in excess of 156kph, and were stopped near North Augusta Road.
Yuhong WEI (age 18) of North York, Ontario has been charged with Stunt Driving and Following Too Close in relation to the incident. Her driver’s licence has been suspended, and the vehicle she was operating has been impounded for a period of seven days.
The second driver, Peggy CHARLES (age 33) of Laval, Quebec, has been charged with Stunt Driving and failing to surrender his driver’s licence. His driver’s licence has been suspended, and the vehicle he was operating has also been impounded for a period of 7 days.
OPP are reminding all motorists that the minimum fine upon conviction is $2,000 and an automatic drivers licence suspension and vehicle impound for a period of 7 days.
Both parties are to appear in Provincial Court, Brockville at a later date.
OPP remind all motorists that there will be zero tolerance for motorists driving aggressively, impaired by alcohol or drugs, distracted drivers or those who fail to buckle up. Driving safety is everyone’s responsibility and it starts before the vehicle is put into motion.
