ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Glen Leduc, 49, of Cornwall was arrested on November 22nd, 2019 and charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, as well as two counts of breach of probation for possessing a weapon and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during an argument with a man known to him on November 22nd, 2019, Glen Leduc assaulted the man using a knife and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

PUBLIC MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on November 23rd, 2019 and charged with public mischief. It is alleged earlier in November, the woman had reported that her boyfriend assaulted her. An investigation ensued and the incident was later determined to be unfounded. On November 23rd, 2019, the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 31st, 2019. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Dawn Niblock, 55, and Nathan Niblock, 28, both of Cornwall, were arrested on November 23rd, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on November 23rd, the individuals attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as they left the store. They were stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, they were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 31st, 2019.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Fowler Thompson, 34, of Lunenburg was arrested on November 23rd, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on November 7th, the man had attended a Vincent Massey Drive business and removed a donation box that did not belong to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On November 23rd, police located the man and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 24th, 2019.

THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Kyla Mercer, 19, of Cornwall was arrested on November 23rd, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on November 15th, the woman took a dog from someone known to her and police were contacted to investigate. On November 23rd, 2019, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 24th, 2019 and charged with uttering threats. It is alleged the man made threats to harm his ex-girlfriend and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

MISCHIEF UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – An 18-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 24th, 2019 and charged with mischief under $5000. It is alleged on November 23rd, the man damaged a door in his mother’s residence and police were contacted to investigate. On November 24th, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 24th, 2019. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

DOMESTIC BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 24th, 2019 and charged with breach of recognizance for attending his girlfriend’s residence. He was also charged with breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on November 24th, the man attended his girlfriend’s residence, despite his conditions, and police were contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

OPERATION WHILE PROHIBITED

Cornwall, ON – Alain Godard-Hall, 49, of Cornwall was arrested on November 24th, 2019 and charged with four counts of operation while prohibited. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle while prohibited from doing so during the night of November 24th. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 24th, 2019.

THREATS, ASSAULT WITH INTENT TO RESIST ARREST, ASSAULT POLICE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old man of Hawkesbury, ON was arrested on November 25th, 2019 and charged with uttering threats, assault with intent to resist arrest, assault police, and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during an argument with his girlfriend during the early morning hours on November 25th, the man made threats to damage property in the residence and police were contacted. During the investigation, the man assaulted a police officer and resisted being arrested. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle, was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on November 26th, 2019 and charged with domestic assault. It is alleged during an argument with her boyfriend on November 26th, the woman assaulted him and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 10th, 2019. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

THEFT UNDER $5000, FRAUD UNDER $5000

Cornwall, On – Dawn Niblock, 55, of Cornwall was arrested on November 26th, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000 and fraud under $5000. It is alleged on October 12th, 2019, the woman attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for some of the items as she left the store. The woman re-attended the store and fraudulently returned an item that she did not purchase in order to obtain a refund. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On November 26th, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 31st, 2019.

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT, THREATS, ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, PERSONATION TO AVOID ARREST, POSSESSION OF AN IMITATION WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 44-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 27th, 2019 and charged with the following:

• Criminal harassment
• Threats x 3
• Assault
• Assault with a weapon x 2
• Personation to avoid arrest
• Possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose x 2
• Breach of recognizance (for failing to reside at a certain address)
• Breach of probation x 9 (for contacting his girlfriend, for attending her residence, being within a certain distance of her, and failing to keep the peace)

It is alleged between October and November, the man had assaulted his girlfriend using a knife and a pair of scissors, as well as made threats to kill her. On November 27th, the man was located in his girlfriend’s residence, despite his conditions, and provided a false name to police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

Cornwall, ON – Clarissa Square, 26, of Cornwall was arrested on November 27th, 2019 on the strength of a warrant. She was also charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on October 8th, 2019 for a theft offence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On November 27th, police were contacted as the woman had attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. She was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police attended and took the woman into custody. The warrant was executed and she was released to appear in court on December 24th, 2019.

Cornwall, ON – Barrett Hall, 19, of Ingleside was arrested on November 27th, 2019 and charged with assault. It is alleged on November 25th, the man assaulted someone known to him and police were contacted to investigate. On November 27th, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 24th, 2019.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Brittany Mussgnug, 30, of Cornwall was arrested on November 28th, 2019 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on September 6th, 2018 for a drug offence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On November 28th, 2019 a member of the Cornwall Police Service attended Gananoque as the woman was in custody on the strength of Cornwall’s warrant. The warrant was executed and the woman was transported to Cornwall to await a bail hearing.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON X 2, THREATS, ADMINISTER NOXIOUS SUBSTANCE X 2, TRESPASSING AT NIGHT, MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 28th, 2019 and charged with the following:

• Assault with a weapon x 2
• Threats
• Administer noxious substance x 2
• Trespassing at night
• Mischief under $5000
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

It is alleged on November 26th, the man was trespassing on the property of a man known to him, at which time he administered bear spray, injuring the man and his ex-girlfriend and damaging a window. He also made threats to kill the man. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On November 28th, 2019, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Cornwall, ON – Shawna Mitchell, 41, of Cornwall was arrested on November 28th, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on November 28th, the woman attended a Second Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. She was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 10th, 2019.

(STORMONT DUNDAS & GLENGARRY, ON) – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 252 calls for service from Thursday November 28, 2019 to Monday December 2, 2019.

Among these occurrences, SD&G OPP responded to:

BREAK IN

(NORTH GLENGARRY,ON) On November 28, 2019 at approximately 9:37 a.m Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a break-in at a community building on Glen Robertson Main Street in North Glengarry Township.

Investigation indicated that sometime during between November 27-28, 2019 unknown culprit(s) attended the community center and removed a sound system(Peavey XR600F stereo powered mixer and two Peavey speakers).

An Investigation continues.

THREATS

(NORTH STORMONT,ON) – On November 28, 2019 at approximately 3:24 p.m Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report a family dispute of in North Stormont Township. Investigation revealed that a youth had uttered threats towards a family member. 

A 16-year-old of North Stormont, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Uttering Threats

The accused was held in custody (bail) and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall court.

The name of the accused is being withheld in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

ASSAULT

(SOUTH STORMONT,ON) – On November 30, 2019 at approximately 9:23 p.m Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report a family dispute of in South Stormont Township. Investigation revealed that an adult accused had assaulted a family member. 

A 33-year-old of North Stormont, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall court on January 9, 2020.

DOMESTIC – ASSAULT

(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – On November 30, 2019 at approximately 11:07 p.m Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of domestic situation in North Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that an adult accused had assaulted the victim twice.

A 18-year-old accused of Russell, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault ( two counts)

– Fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking

The accused was held in custody(bail) and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

DOMESTIC – MISCHIEF

(SOUTH GLENGARRY,ON) – On December 01, 2019 at approximately 5:05 p.m Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of domestic situation in South Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed that an adult accused had caused damage to the residence and assaulted the victim.

A 47-year-old accused of South Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Mischief

– Assault

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on December 22, 2019.

DRUG OFFENCES

Cornwall, ON – Kerby Franklin, 29, of Cornwall was arrested on November 29th, 2019 and charged with the following:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking heroin
• Possession of property obtained by crime
• Breach of probation (for failing to keep the peace)

It is alleged the man was wanted by the Cornwall Police Service for an unrelated matter, and was located by police on November 29th. He was taken into custody, at which time he was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine, heroin, as well as Canadian and American currency. The man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

It is alleged during an altercation with a man known to her, the woman made threats to harm him and assaulted him with a knife. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – Jeffrey Burles, 35, of Cornwall was arrested on November 30th, 2019 and charged with two counts of theft under $5000. He was also charged with four counts of breach of probation for attending a certain business and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on November 23rd and November 26th, the man attended a Brookdale Avenue business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store on either day. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On November 30th, 2019, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 9th, 2020.

Cornwall, ON – Craig Hopkins, 42, of Cornwall was arrested on November 30th, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the man attended a Brookdale Avenue business and November 30th and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. He was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 7th, 2020.

Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old Ottawa woman was arrested on November 30th, 2019 and charged with domestic assault and mischief. It is alleged during an argument with her boyfriend, the woman struck him, as well as damaged medication belonging to the man. Police were contacted and took the woman into custody. She was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 10th, 2019. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

YOUTH CHARGED AFTER MAKING THREATS

(LEEDS, ON.) – Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges against a youth.

On November 30, 2019 just before 10:30 a.m. OPP officers from the Thousand Islands office received information regarding threats made by a youth.

A 13 year old has been charged with:

• Utter threats- Cause death or bodily harm

• Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age

The Gananoque Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to work together with this investigation.

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on December 2nd, 2019 and charged with assault. It is alleged on December 1st, the youth assaulted his brother and police were contacted to investigate. On December 2nd, 2019, the youth attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Cornwall, ON – Roxanne Cook, 32, of Cornwall was arrested on December 2nd, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on November 15th, she and another woman took a dog from someone known to them and police were contacted to investigate. On December 2nd, 2019, she attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 31st, 2019.

Cornwall, ON – A 23-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 3rd, 2019 and charged with three counts of assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, threats, as well as breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged between June and December, the man assaulted his girlfriend on three occasions, and on two additional occasions, struck her with a picture frame, as well as a blanket. The man further made threats to kill his girlfriend’s family and police were subsequently contacted. On December 3rd, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

Cornwall, ON – Steven Campbell, 40, of Cornwall was arrested on December 4th, 2019 and charged with breach of undertaking for being within a certain distance of a man known to him, as well as failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on November 29th, the man was within a certain distance of someone he has conditions not to be nearby. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 4th, 2019 he attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

SHOPLIFTING, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Matthew Burnside, 27, and Preslie-Anne Walker, 26, both of Cornwall, were arrested on December 4th, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000. Matthew Burnside was also charged with breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the man and woman attended a Ninth Street business on December 4th and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as they left the store. They were stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, they were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court in January 2020.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Brian Flaro, 50, of Cornwall was arrested on December 4th, 2019 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol in the area of Tenth Street East and Grand Avenue. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 12th, 2019.

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 5th, 2019 and charged with domestic assault, mischief, forcible confinement and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged between September and October, 2019, the man had assaulted his girlfriend and prevented her from leaving the residence. It is further alleged the man damaged a door in the residence during an argument with his girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 5th, 2019 and charged with the following:

• Domestic assault x 2
• Sexual Assault x 2
• Mischief x 2

It is alleged between 2018 and December 2nd, 2019, the man had assaulted and sexually assaulted his wife on two occasions. The man also allegedly damaged a shirt belonging to his wife, as well as her glasses. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 5th, 2019, he was located by police and taken into custody on the strength of the warrant. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on December 24th, 2019. Cornwall, ON – Shonna Godfrey, 22, of Cornwall was arrested on December 5th, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000, and two counts of breach of probation for attending a certain business and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on December 5th, the woman attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the item as she left the store. She was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 9th, 2020.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Jeffrey Leblanc, 29, of Cornwall was arrested on December 5th, 2019 and charged with breach of undertaking for attending a certain business. It is alleged while investigating an unrelated matter, the man was located in a certain business, despite his conditions to not attend. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ATTEMPT MURDER

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 5th, 2019 and charged with the following:

• Attempt to commit murder
• Assault x 2
• Assault police
• Mischief under $5000
• Threats

On December 5th, 2019, the Cornwall Police Service was called to a Marlborough Street residence, and located the girlfriend of the 34-year-old man with critical injuries. She was transported to the hospital and subsequently airlifted to Ottawa.

The investigation revealed on December 5th, 2019, an altercation had transpired between the man and his girlfriend, resulting in a window being broken, along with numerous pieces of furniture damaged. During the course of the altercation, the man is also alleged to have assaulted his girlfriend’s child.

The man was located inside of the residence and became uncooperative with police. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man required medical attention, and was transported to the hospital, where he assaulted a doctor, as well as a police officer, and made threats to kill multiple persons in the hospital. He was subsequently returned to police headquarters where he remained in custody to await a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victims in the matter.

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 9th, 2019 and charged with domestic assault and criminal harassment. Cornwall, ON – Kayla Ingram, 27, of Cornwall was arrested on December 9th, 2019 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on May 23rd, the woman assaulted someone known to her and a warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest. On December 9th, she was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on January 9th, 2020.

Cornwall, ON – Amanda Lalonde, 35, of Cornwall was arrested on December 10th, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Dean Sinnott, 58, of Cornwall was arrested on December 10th, 2019 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol in the area of Brookdale Avenue and Thirteenth Street. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, was charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on December 31st, 2019.

AKWESASNE MOHAWK POLICE SEIZE CANNABIS, EDIBLES & PILLS

On December 9, 2019, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Marine Unit (SAVE) was conducting pro-active marine patrols on the St. Lawrence River monitoring boating activity.

At approximately 4:09 PM, a vessel with no identifiable markings was observed entering the Snye Channel. Police attempted to stop the vessel in order to conduct a boat safety inspection.

The vessel and two occupants failed to stop for police and began making maneuvers in a dangerous manner to escape and avoid interception. Police continued to follow the vessel to a landing in Tsi Snaihne (Snye) where both subjects fled on foot. One subject was immediately located and placed under arrest.

Police conducted a search of the vessel and seized the following items:

• 297 packages of THC infused cookies $8,910 (Estimated Street Value)

• 410 packages of assorted THC gummies $16,400 (Estimated Street
Value)

• 490 Oxycodene-Percocet Pills $4,900 (Estimated Street Value)

• 37 lbs Cannabis Marihauna $74,000 (Estimated Street Value)

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police charged a 29-year-old male from Akwesasne with Possession of Cannabis over 30 grams, Possession of Illicit Cannabis, Possession for the Purpose of Distribution, Exporting Cannabis, Dangerous Driving, Flight from Police, Obstruct, and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Cornwall, ON – The Cornwall Police Service (CPS) Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit recently conducted an investigation into a man being in possession of child pornography. As a result of the ongoing investigation, in November 2019, members of the ICE Unit and Criminal Investigation Division executed a search warrant at the man’s residence.

As a result of the investigation, Johnny Sawatis, 33, of Cornwall was arrested on December 10th, 2019 and charged with possession of child pornography. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on January 9th, 2020.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old Williamstown man was arrested on December 11th, 2019 and charged with domestic assault. It is alleged during an altercation with his girlfriend, the man assaulted her, and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 24th, 2019. DOMESTIC BREACH, POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 11th, 2019 and charged with the following:

• Breach of recognizance x 3 (for contacting his ex-girlfriend, failing to remain in his residence, and possessing drugs)
• Breach of probation (for failing to keep the peace)
• Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine

It is alleged the man had contacted his ex-girlfriend on December 10th, despite his conditions, and police were contacted to investigate. On December 11th, the man was located by police, outside of his residence. He was taken into custody, at which time he was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine. Cornwall, ON – A 39-year-old Long Sault man was arrested on December 11th, 2019 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on December 10th, 2019 for a domestic offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On December 11th, 2019, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on January 9th, 2020. Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old man from Akwesasne was arrested on December 11th, 2019 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on November 28th, 2019 for a domestic offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On December 11th, 2019, a member of the Cornwall Police Service attended the courthouse as the man was in custody on an unrelated matter. FRAUD OVER $5000, PUBLIC MISCHIEF, FRAUDULENT CONCEALMENT

Cornwall, ON – Mohamed Tuan Kitchil, 38, of Vaudreuil-Dorion was arrested on December 11th, 2019 and charged with fraud over $5000, public mischief, as well as fraudulent concealment. It is alleged on May 7th, 2019, the man falsely reported his vehicle as being stolen, and subsequently received quantity of money from his insurance company. The stolen vehicle complaint was determined to be unfounded and an investigation ensued. On December 11th, 2019, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 9th, 2020.

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 11th, 2019 and charged with criminal harassment and breach of recognizance for contacting his ex-girlfriend. Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 11th, 2019 and charged with assault. It is alleged on November 8th, 2019, the youth assaulted another youth known to him and police were contacted to investigate. WARRANT ISSUED FOR MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS ACT AND CRIMINAL CODE OFFENCES

OPP-led Investigation of the 2018 Mayoral Election (Burlington)

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Anti-Rackets Branch (ARB) has issued a warrant for the arrest of a Burlington resident, following an investigation into expense violations under the Municipal Elections Act. During the course of the investigation, evidence was uncovered which identified the accused as being responsible for several criminal offences.

In December 2018, the OPP received a request for assistance from the Halton Regional Police Service. The request was made in relation to allegations of improprieties during the 2018 Mayoral Election in the City of Burlington.

As a result of the investigation, the OPP Anti-Rackets Branch, with the assistance of investigators from Halton Regional Police, have charged Sean BAIRD, 47. The accused has no affiliation to the Mayor’s office and has been charged with the following offences:

·      Uttering a Forged Document – Contrary to section 368(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

·      Fraud over $5000 – Contrary to section 380(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

·      Corrupt Practice (four counts) – Contrary to the Municipal Elections Act.

ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE

OPP CHARGES ONE PERSON

(SOUTH GLENGARRY, ON) – On December 9, 2019 at approximately 8:10 p.m., members of the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a robbery in a residence on County Road 25 in South Glengarry Township.

The investigation has determined that two individuals broke into the residence. The victim was held against his will and was assaulted. Items were also taken from the house.

On December 13, 2019 Justin CLOUTIER, aged 24, of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

– Robbery using a firearm

– Assault with a weapon ( two counts)

– Forcible confinement

– Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose ( two counts)

– Break and enter

– Fail to comply with conditions of a probation order ( three counts)

– Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order

– Assault

– Assault cause bodily harm

– Mischief under $5000

– Unauthorized possession of a weapon

– Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling ( cannabis act)

– Possession of illicit cannabis (CA)

The accused was held in custody (bail) pending an appearance at Cornwall Court.

Cornwall, ON – Cole Besner, 19, of Cornwall was arrested on December 13th, 2019 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an altercation with a man known to him, he assaulted the man and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 21st, 2020.

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on December 13th, 2019 and charged with the following:

• Breach of recognizance for consuming alcohol

It is alleged during an altercation with her mother on December 13th, 2019, the intoxicated woman damaged a window in her mother’s residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the woman assaulted and resisted police officers while being taken into custody. After a brief struggle, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held in custody for a bail hearing. Her name as not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 16th, 2019 and charged with three counts of domestic assault, as well as two counts of assault with a weapon. It is alleged between June and December, the man had assaulted his common-law-wife on three occasions. Additionally, on two occasions, the man assaulted her using a traffic cone, as well as a pair of boots. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 16th, 2019, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 14th, 2020.
