Stabbing Incident Investigation

 

(Ottawa) — Tonight, at 10:30 pm, the Ottawa Police Service responded to a call of a male who was stabbed in the area of King Edward Avenue and Sussex Drive. The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Ottawa Police Report Shooting in Kanata SEPT 8, 2016 #OPS

Firearm charges from Kanata area incident

(Ottawa) –The Ottawa Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit have charged an Ottawa man for numerous firearm offences.

On September 8th at approximately 2:45am, officers attended the Roland Michener Drive area for a call for service involving a male with a gun making threats. The male left the premises prior to police arrival, but was arrested shortly after. No shots were fired, and no person was injured.

Patrick KOOL MONTECATINE, 22 years old of Ottawa, is facing charges of:

  • Use of firearm
  • Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device
  • Pointing a firearm   x 2
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Failure to comply with a recognizance  x 2
  • Common nuisance
  • Uttering threats cause bodily harm x 2

He will be in show cause court today.

THEFT UNDER $5000

 

Cornwall, ON – Joshua Sabourin, 24 of Cornwall was arrested on September 7th, 2016 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on September 7th, 2016 the man attended a Ninth Street store and removed a package of cookies making no attempt to pay for the item as he left the store. He was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

Cornwall, ON – Shane Bertrand, 39 of Cornwall was arrested on September 7th, 2016 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of two probation orders for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on September 7th, 2016 the man entered a store at the Cornwall Square and removed a shirt and glasses making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. He was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on October 6th, 2016.

 

ASSAULT

 

Cornwall, ON – Alain Rochon, 27 of Cornwall was arrested on September 7th, 2016 and charged with assault. It is alleged while at a local gym on September 7th, 2016 the man slapped a man known to him in the face and police were contacted to investigate. The man later attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on October 4th, 2016.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – John Taylor, 28 of Irving, NY was arrested on September 8th, 2016 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged during the month of January, 2016 the man ran the Port of Entry and struck a member of the CBSA with his door when they attempted to stop the man. Police were contacted and a warrant was obtained for his arrest. On September 8th, 2016 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service assumed custody from Akwesasne Police as they had the man in custody on Cornwall’s warrant. The man was subsequently held for a bail hearing.

 

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Gilles Latour, 49 of Cornwall was arrested on September 8th, 2016 and charged with breach of two undertakings for failing to notify a change of address and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged in July, 2016 the man failed to notify the Cornwall Community Police Service of a change of address and an investigation ensued. On September 8th, 2016 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, ASSAULT, THREATS, MISCHIEF

 

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on September 8th, 2016 and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, two counts of threats and mischief. It is alleged during an argument on September 6th, 2016 the man pulled his mother off the couch. On September 7th, 2016 the man damaged walls in the residence with a knife, threatened to harm his mother if police were contacted and damaged property with the knife while his mother was holding the property. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On September 8th, 2016 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

THREATS

 

Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on September 8th, 2016 and charged with threats. It is alleged the man threatened to kill his brother and police were contacted to investigate. On September 8th, 2016 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – Jason Robinson, 35 of Montreal was arrested on September 8th, 2016 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man was wanted by Cornwall Community Police Service for his role in a break and enter in July, 2004 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On September 8th, 2016 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended Valleyfield as Valleyfield police had the man in custody on Cornwall’s warrant. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

 

ASSAULT, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on September 8th, 2016 and charged with three counts of assault and three counts of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during arguments between September 4th and September 6th, 2016 the man assaulted his common-law wife on three occasions and police were contacted to investigate. On September 8th, 2016 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY

 

Cornwall, ON – Jeremy Myres, 21 of Cornwall was arrested on September 8th, 2016 and charged with possession of stolen property. It is alleged in June, 2016 the man pawned a stolen PS4 and police were contacted to investigate. On September 8th, 2016 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on October 20th, 2016.

 

WARRANT, OBSTRUCT

 

Cornwall, ON – Robert Montgomery, 26 of Cornwall was arrested on September 8th, 2016 on the strength of a warrant and charged with obstruct police. It is alleged on September 8th, 2016 while investigating an unwanted person call the man falsely identified himself to police. Further investigation revealed the man was wanted on a warrant. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

 

Cornwall, ON – Ellio Nunes, 24 of Brampton was arrested on September 9th, 2016 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged in the early morning hours of September 9th, 2016 the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Brookdale Avenue and Seventh Street. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 22nd, 2016.

Rideau Street Shooting in Ottawa #OPS Sept 12, 2016

Shooting on Rideau Street

 

 (Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit is investigating a shooting that occurred on Rideau Street.

On the 11th of September, 2016, at approximately 3:00 am, central patrol officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 400 block of Rideau Street. Officers attended the area and located spent shell casings.

At approximately 5:00 am, Ottawa Hospital advised of a male that reported to hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

The investigation is ongoing and no other details can be released at this time.

Sandwich Throwing Lands Cornwall Man in Jail – SEPT 12, 2016

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Jeffrey Berube, 52 of Cornwall was arrested on September 9th, 2016 and charged with breach of recognizance for being in the company of someone that has a criminal record. It is alleged on September 9th, 2016 the man was found to be in breach of his conditions during a traffic stop as two of his passengers had a criminal record. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

FRAUD, OBTAIN CREDIT BY FALSE PRETENCES, UTTER FORGED DOCUMENT, BREACH, POSSESS IDENTITY DOCUMENTS

 

Cornwall, ON – JoJoe Kgya-Agyenman, 23 of Milton, ON was arrested on September 9th, 2016 and charged with fraud, obtain credit by false pretence, utter forged documents, breach of recognizance and probation for having in his possession a card with security chip or information strip. It is alleged on September 9th, 2016 the man attempted to activate a fraudulently acquired credit card at a local bank and police were contacted to investigate. Police located the man at the bank and found that he was in possession of false identification. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on September 9th, 2016 and charged with assault with a weapon. It is alleged during an argument on September 9th, 2016 the man threw a sandwich at his girlfriend and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Anson Jacco, 51 of Cornwall was arrested on September 10th, 2016 and charged with breach of recognizance for being outside his residence and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on September 10th, 2016 the man was spotted breaching his conditions in the area of Louisa Street. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date.

 

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, WEAPONS DANGEROUS, THREATS

 

Cornwall, ON – Joshua Lauzon-McAlear, 18 of Cornwall was arrested on September 10th, 2016 and charged with assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous and threats. It is alleged during an argument on September 10th, 2016 the man threatened two men with a knife and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

Ottawa man charged with Child Pornography Offences

 

(Ottawa) — In early June 2016, the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre (CNCEE) forwarded the Ottawa Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) several reports they had received from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipLine.

These reports indicated that IP addresses in the Ottawa area were uploading images and video of child sexual abuse via the Internet and Google. Subsequent investigation and Production order on the Internet Service Provider revealed the suspect name and address.

A search warrant was subsequently executed today in the 1000 block of Rockingham Avenue in the Billings Bridge area. Computers, cellular devices and external digital media were seized and are being forensically analysed.

Scott MCCOOEYE, 43 years old, of Ottawa, has been charged with three counts of Possession of Child Pornography, 1 count Distribution of Child Pornography, and two counts of Make Available Child Pornography.

He is scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing on Sunday, September 11th.

The Ottawa Police Service is a member of the Provincial Strategy to protect children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. This Project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(South Glengarry) – On September 9, 2016 at approximately 7:11pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a traffic complaint on County Road 34, South Glengarry Township. A vehicle and female driver were intercepted at a property in the village of Lancaster. Investigation indicated that she was under the influence of alcohol.

Shelley ONDICH (51) of South Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired
– Driving a Motor Vehicle With More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

She was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on October 12, 2016.
DOMESTIC – THREATS

(South Dundas) – On September 9, 2016 at approximately 7:39pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a property on Ottawa Street, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male had made threats towards his ex-spouse and other family members.

The 38-year-old from South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Utter Threats (3 counts)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victims.
FLIGHT FROM POLICE – DRUGS SEIZED

(South Glengarry) – On September 10, 2016 at approximately 12:11pm, an SD&G OPP officer intercepted a vehicle for speeding on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. As the officer completed required documents, the vehicle fled the scene being driven in an erratic manner. A short distance away, the vehicle entered the ditch at an off-ramp and the two (2) male occupants fled on foot. Both were arrested nearby by officers. A quantity of suspected marihuana was also seized from the vehicle.
The driver, Christopher OXLEY-ANDRIC (31) of Lachine, Quebec is charged with;

– Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest (gave false identification)
– Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
– Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
– Obstruct Peace Officer
– Resist Peace Officer
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (licence plate on vehicle stolen)
– Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed (Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

The male passenger, David RICKARD (48) of Lachine, Quebec is charged with;

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (licence plate on vehicle stolen)

Both were held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
BREACH OF CONDITIONS

(North Dundas) – On September 10, 2016 at approximately 2:20pm, an SD&G OPP officer intercepted a vehicle on County Road 3, North Dundas Township. The officer recognized the female driver and a pedestrian nearby as being in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident.

A 35-year-old female from North Dundas and a 34-year-old male from Ottawa, Ontario were arrested and each charged with;

– Fail to Comply with Recognizance (2 counts)

Both were held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
ASSAULT

(North Dundas) – On September 11, 2016 at approximately 12:40pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an assault at a residence on Church Street, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an adult female had assaulted a family member.

The 73-year-old female was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

She was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on October 11, 2016. Her name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victims.
DAMAGED MAILBOXES

(South Dundas) – Overnight (September 10-11, 2016) several mailboxes were damaged at residences located on English Road, Broken Second Road, Arlie Road, Kelly Road and County Road 40, South Dundas Township.

An investigation continues.
BREAK-INS

(South Dundas) – Over the last week, a residence located on Locke Lane, South Dundas Township was entered. Inside, a quantity of assorted Ryobi and Mastercraft power tools were stolen.

An investigation continues.
(North Glengarry) –  Between September 8-10, 2016, a shed at a residential property on Lochiel Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township was forcibly entered. Inside, a Cub Cadet push lawnmower, Nautilus Power Pack, fishing supplies, assorted power and hand tools were taken.

Sunday Sip n Scoop Break in Possible Hate Crime SEPT 12, 2016

Local eatery SIP n Scoop, located in the Seaway Village Plaze on Brookdale & Vincent Massey is closed after a horrific break in which has some suggesting that it may be a hate crime.

The family run business awaits permission to return to the store and have their insurance appraise the damage after Cornwall police have finished their investigation.

A source from the store stated:

The police did say all our product was splattered over the floor, and product is contaminated so everything has to be thrown out. Clorox bleach was over the floor maybe on our product too, product was on the floor (bubble tea jellies, powder, syrups) – Ice Cream machine was turned off, so all the ice cream was melted.sip-1 The soft serve machine was tampered with. All cash was stolen, cash register was broken, cash safe was broken as well.  Decoration was all over the floor, vases were broken, glassware was broken too. This happened early morning Sunday. We found out at 11 AM when we went to open the store.

Reps from the store were essentially in shock and hope to reopen as soon as possible.    This is the second incident against the family run business.   The excessive damage put the incident in a light beyond a simple robbery.

Big Razor Theft in Prescott #OPP Seek Help SEPT 13, 2016

REQUESTING ASSISTANCE OF PUBLIC REGARDING A THEFT

Numerous razors stolen from local Grocer

(PRESCOTT, ON) –  At 2:20 pm , on September 12,2016, officers with the Prescott Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft from the O’Reilly’s Independent Grocer, located in the town of Prescott.  Stolen was, $1,694.57 worth of razor products.

The male suspect has been described as Caucasian, approximately 6″ tall, thin build, with a partial mustache and undergrowth under the chin. The suspect was wearing a grey hoodie, which has a white sleeve and with blue on the hood. The suspect was also sporting beige khaki shorts,  a red ball cap, white ankle socks and black flip flops. The suspect was last observed heading towards McKenzie Road.

Cornwall, ON – Tanisha Lazore-Garlow, 19 of Cornwall was arrested on September 12th, 2016 and charged with breach of undertaking for communicating with someone she has conditions not to communicate with and for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on September 11th, 2016 the woman attended the person’s residence that she has conditions not to communicate with and police were contacted to investigate. On September 12th, 2016 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – David Rickard, 48 of Gatineau was arrested on September 12th, 2016 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged in 2010 the man failed to attend court for Tobacco Tax Act offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On September 12th, 2016 police attended the Cornwall Courthouse as the man was in custody on unrelated charges. The warrant was executed and the man remained in custody for a bail hearing.

 

ATTEMPT BREAK AND ENTER, CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

 

Cornwall, ON – A 52-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on September 12th, 2016 and charged with attempt break and enter and criminal harassment. It is alleged on September 10th, 2016 the woman attempted to gain entry into her ex-boyfriend’s residence and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation it was learned during the month of September, 2016 the woman followed her ex-boyfriend on several occasions. On September 12th, 2016 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

OBSTRUCT

 

Cornwall, ON – Justin Biesinger, 27 of Cornwall was arrested on September 12th, 2016 and charged with obstruct police. It is alleged while investigating a Liquor License offence on September 12th, 2016 the man falsely identified himself to police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

BREAK AND ENTER, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Sumera Idress, 40 of Cornwall was arrested on September 13th, 2016 and charged with break and enter and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged in the early morning hours of September 13th, 2016 police attended a Brookdale Avenue business for and audio alarm and located the woman inside the building. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

OPS Two More Historic Sex Charges For Morrisburg School Teacher SEPT 13, 2016

Additional charges of sexual assault for a former teacher

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Section has continued to investigate allegations of sexual assault against a former teacher, resulting in additional charges.

Robert CLARKE, 72, of Morrisburg, is now charged with two additional counts of Gross Indecency after two victims came forward in response to an Ottawa Police news release in June 2016. The offences occurred between 1973 and 1992 while CLARKE was in the course of his duties as a teacher.

CLARKE will be appearing in court on October 24th, 2016.

Investigators are concerned there could be more victims. The investigation continues.

“The Ottawa Police will respect a victim’s wishes to pursue or not pursue the matter before the courts,” said Staff Sergeant Angela McDade, SACA. “The reporting of these incidents by victims to police is key for investigators to identify suspects and determine crime trends.”

18 Year Charged by OPP in Perth ON After Wild Ride SEPT 13, 2016

MAN DRIVES DANGEROUSLY AND  ASSAULT(TOWN OF PERTH, ON) – At about 02:54pm on Saturday 3rd September 2016, officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), started to receive a succession of 911 calls reporting a green Ford Truck driving dangerously in different areas of the Town of Perth.

Reports included that the vehicle was traveling at high speeds, doing “do nuts” in parking lots and driving over sports fields and recreational areas. Members of the community were present and at risk at all locations.

The truck was located by police and was successfully stopped on Spence Side Road in Drummond North Elmsley Township. The driver was non-compliant and assaultive.

Adam BOWLER, 18 years old, of Drummond North Elmsley Township, is charged:

Three (3) Counts.                           Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

One (1) Count.                                Driving a Motor Vehicle While Impaired.

One (1) Count.                                Fail or Refuse to provide Breath Sample.

One (1) Count.                                Resist Police Officer.

Three (3) Counts.                            Assault Police Officer.

One (1) Count.                                Utter Threats to Cause Death or Bodily harm.

One (1) Count.                                Mischief Under $5,000.

Each offence is contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

BOWLER was also charged with Provincial Offences contrary to the Highway Traffic, Liquor Licence Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

He attended a Bail hearing at the Provincial court in the Town of Perth and was subsequently released on conditions to appear at a later date.

Dog Stabbing & Officer Charged in Brockville SEPT 13, 2016 BPS

Officers Facing Disciplinary Action

As a result of an ongoing investigation by the Brockville Police Service a 7 year veteran of the service is facing numerous charges.  The officer has been suspended from duty since the 25th of April 2016 and will remain on suspension as per the Police Services Act.  The officer faces the following charges:

  • 1 count of Breach of Trust – Criminal Code
  • 7 counts of Discreditable Conduct – Police Services Act
  • 5 counts of Neglect of duty – Police Services Act

The officer will appear in criminal court on September 23rd, 2016 and his Police Act hearing will commence on October 21st 2016.   Based on the nature of the allegations the officer is not being named.

A second officer is also facing disciplinary action as a result of a separate investigation.  The Brockville Police Service requested assistance from the OPP after receiving information of potential criminal allegations.  The OPP concluded their investigation and laid several counts of assault against the officer.  The allegations all occurred off duty, did not occur in the City of Brockville and span several years.   The officer is an 8 year veteran of the Brockville Police Service and has been moved to administrative duties.   Based on the nature of the allegations the officer is not being named.  The Brockville Police have commenced a Police Services Act investigation as a result of charges being laid.

 

September 9 – 11, 2016 Incidents

Mental Health

On September 9th at 3:43 pm, Brockville Police attended a mental health group home in the south end of the city to assist with a resident.

A local 27 year old male had stopped taking his medication and staff were seeking the help of Officers in escorting him to local hospital. Once at the hospital, security staff relieved Officers while the subject awaited care.

 

Domestic Dispute

On September 9th at 5:13 pm, Brockville Police received a complaint of domestic assault.

A local 29 year old male attended the residence of his ex-partner for child exchange purposes. The man indicated to Officers the dispute turned physical and he was struck several times in the head with a fist. No medical attention was required.

Police arrested and charged a local 27 year old woman with assault as a result. She was released later in the day and placed on conditions with a future court date.

 

Bail Violations

On September 9th at 5:37 pm, Brockville Police attended a south end residence to investigate a breach of court issued release conditions.

A local 12 year old male had been charged with assault and released on multiple conditions. One of the conditions involved remaining in his home unless accompanied by a named adult. His caretaker reported the youth tore up his release documents and fled the home. Officers located him and he was arrested and charged with breaching his conditions, then released back to his home.

On September 10th at 6:34 pm, Police attended the residence again as the youth had taken off a second time. This time he was located and arrested but held for a remand appearance. Remand court on the weekends is done via video with Kingston serving as the hub for surrounding Police agencies. In the morning of September 11th, the Justice of the Peace released the youth into the custody of the Children’s Aid Society. The original assault charge and the subsequent breaches of release conditions will be dealt with in a future court date.

 

Break/Enter/Theft

On September 9th at 11:52 pm, Brockville Police took a complaint of a residential break and enter.

During the overnight hours of September 6th, an unknown person(s) entered the victim’s home through an insecure, rear sliding door. A PlayStation along with a wallet from a purse was removed from the home.

The investigation continues into possible suspects.

 

Mischief

On September 11th at 12:55 am, Brockville Police responded to a restaurant on King Street West for a mischief complaint.

One of the panes of glass at the front of the business was busted by an unknown individual. Entry was not gained as a secondary pane was still intact.

Public Intoxication

On September 11th at 2:46 am, Brockville Police received information from a cab driver concerning a male lying in the lawn of a south end residence. Officers recognized the local man and noted he was intoxicated. The 52 year old was arrested and charged with public intoxication. He was released later in the day when sober and issued a fine.

 

Storm Issues.

Brockville Police responded to the typical things that accompany a storm of Saturday nights magnitude. Trees blocked roadways and took down different utility lines. The biggest concern was a high voltage powerline, knocked down at Bramshot Avenue and Ormond Street. Hydro One was called in to deal with the problem. We are not aware of any personal injuries to citizens of the community.

September 8, 2016 Incidents

Attempt Suicide

On September 8th at 7:30 am, Brockville Police attended a south end apartment building to check on a local 64 year old female. She had called a crisis line talking about ending her life.

Officers found her apartment secure and gained entry through the property manager. The woman was found unresponsive and pills were observed scattered in the unit. Ambulance personnel removed the woman from the home and she was taken to hospital. It appears help arrived in time for her but Police do not have an update on her condition.

 

Drug Arrest

On September 8th at 3:41 pm, Brockville Police performed a traffic stop on a vehicle in the north end of the city. Two local males, ages 37 and 35 years were the occupants.

Police discovered the males had fentanyl patches in their possession. The 35 year old was on release conditions from outstanding charges, one of those conditions prevented him from possessing drugs. Both parties were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. The younger male was charged with breaching his undertaking as well. They were released later in the afternoon on conditions and given a future court date.

 

Criminal Harassment

On September 8th at 8:02 pm, Brockville Police attended a north end apartment building for a harassment complaint.

A local 25 year old female informed Officers that her 22 year old ex-boyfriend was continually texting her and causing problems for her over Facebook. Police are now looking to speak with the young man in regards to harassment allegations and possibly breaching his current probation order.

The investigation is continuing.

September 7, 2016 Incidents

Bail Violation

 

On Tuesday, the Brockville Police commented on a local 25 year old male who failed to sign in at the Police station as required when released on charges. On September 7th at 2:30 pm, the subject turned himself into Police. He was arrested and charged with breaching his recognizance. An appearance in bail court will take place.

 

Rent Fraud

 

On September 7th at 2:55 and 5:32 pm, Brockville Police took complaints of fraud in relation to a house rental.

 

A residence on Front Avenue was advertised online for rent. The first complainant forwarded money to the fraudster and the second one held off after doing some investigating.

 

This is becoming a more popular scam. Police remind the public to be careful when responding to rentals online and never forward monies until comfortable that everything is legitimate.

 

Bail Violation

On September 7th at 12:27 pm, Brockville Police attended a disturbance within a city high school.

A local 12 year old male was causing problems for another male student. The youth was already on conditions for an outstanding charge of assault and breaching his conditions on the weekend. He was arrested and charged for breaching his release terms by failing to be of good behaviour as well as causing a disturbance by fighting.

The youth was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Domestic Dispute / Warrant

On September 7th at 3:07 pm, Brockville Police attended a domestic dispute at a south end residence.

The dispute was verbal in nature and parties had calmed down. However, the female resident, 25 years of age, was wanted on an outstanding warrant from the Leeds OPP area. She was arrested in regards to the warrant and released to their custody later in the afternoon.

 

Bail Violation

On September 7th at 9:39 pm, Brockville Police stopped a vehicle on Stewart Blvd. for a traffic violation.

The local, 18 year old, male driver was on probation for offences in relation to child luring. One condition of the order required he not be alone with any female under 16 years of age. His female passenger was 15 years old. On August 20th, the accused was found in the company of the same female. He was arrested and charged at that time with the probation breach and released on conditions. A charge of breaching those conditions was laid as well. He was held in custody and will appear in bail court.

September 6, 2016 Incidents

Bail Violation

On September 6th at 1:25 pm, Brockville Police began investigating a potential breach of release conditions.

A local female indicated her ex-boyfriend approached her in a south end park and wanted to speak with her. He had a beer in his hand at the time. On August 6th, Police had charged her ex with uttering threats, unlawfully in a dwelling and several breaches in relation to her. He was released at court on numerous conditions which included, no contact with her and no consumption of alcohol.

Officers are looking to speak with the local 44 year old in relation to the incident.

 

Secret Shopper Fraud

On September 6th at 6:10 pm, Brockville Police received another on-line fraud complaint in regards to the secret shopper scam.

A local 19 year old male cashed a cheque he received in the mail for several thousand dollars. The cheque was returned as fraudulent.

Once again, the Brockville Police advise people not to get involved in these on-line shopping offers. The person who cashes the fraudulent cheque ends up on the hook for monies spent before being advised the cheque is of no value. This complaint also shows there is no particular age group being targeted. Any member of our Community can be victimized and we stress that people not engage in these offers.

 

September 2 – 5, 2016 Incidents

Warrant / Bail Violation

On September 2nd at 10:10 am, Brockville Police Officers noticed a man walking on Parkedale Avenue that resembled a wanted party for an outstanding warrant from Ottawa. The Ottawa native, 50 years of age, was on conditions for outstanding charges that required him to remain within their city. He was arrested and charged with breaching his recognizance and held for a bail hearing later in the day.

Ottawa was advised of the arrest so they can execute their warrant when the party is released from custody locally. They have him charged with assault and failing to appear for court.

 

Mental Health Apprehension

On September 2nd at 10:13 am, Brockville Police received a complaint of a local 31 year old man acting strangely at the rear of a King Street business. The man is known to Police to have mental health issues. He was shirtless, yelling at people and in obvious need of help. The young man left the area before Officers arrived and could not be located.

At 11:50 pm, the man attended his mother’s residence in the south end of town and woke her up. He broke picture frames containing his photo, cutting his hands in the process. He then smeared his own blood all over his face. He caused a lot of mischief within the residence and again took off before Police arrival.

He then attended his father’s residence and used a screwdriver to punch holes in the walls.

Finally, in the morning of the 3rd, he was located behind the same King Street business and was apprehended under the Mental Health Act. Officers transported the man to local hospital for appropriate treatment.

 

Domestic Charges

On September 2nd at 11:25 am, Brockville Police attended a domestic dispute in the south/east section of the city.

A local 27 year old man was confronted by his girlfriend about infidelity issues. He became upset and threw a nearly full drink can at her, striking her in the arm. Officers arrested the man for assault and weapons dangerous.

The victim suffered minor injuries in the incident. The accused was held for a bail hearing.

 

Caught Stealing / Fled on Foot

On September 2nd at 1:51 pm, Brockville Police attended a north end box store for a theft complaint.

A local 24 year old man attempted to leave the store with a quantity of merchandise without paying. When confronted by store security he fled on foot prior to Officers arrival.

The suspect has been identified and a warrant will be issued for his arrest for theft. The stolen items were recovered.

 

Wanted After Failing to Sign In

In March of this year a local female, 34 years of age, was charged with numerous criminal offences by the Gananoque Police Service.

She was released on conditions at court with one of the requirements being to sign in with the Brockville Police twice a week. Officers here noticed she had missed several sign in dates while updating their records on the weekend. The accused woman is now wanted by Ganaoque for failing to attend court and in Brockville for failing to report in.

A warrant will be issued for her arrest.

 

Impaired on an E-Bike

On September 2nd at 8:49 pm, Brockville Police attended a north end intersection for a single vehicle accident.

A local 40 year old man lost control of his E-Bike and struck the stop sign at the intersection. He was not injured but Officers noted his ability to operate the bike was impaired by alcohol.

He was arrested and charged with impaired driving and then refusal after he would not provide breath samples back at the station. The accused was released when sober with a future court date.

 

Assault on Motorist

On September 2nd at 9:49 pm, Brockville Police responded to an assault on a motorist in a south end parking lot.

A local 21 year old man and his 21 year old male passenger were attacked by a group of four males. The victims were coming to a stop in the parking lot when one of the suspects threw a trailer hitch through the window of the vehicle. The driver was then sprayed with an unknown substance in the face and struck a fence in the lot while trying to come to a stop.

The males fled the area and only one local 24 year old has been identified as a responsible party.

The driver and his passenger received treatment at hospital to have their eyes flushed and to check out other minor soreness.

Police are currently trying to locate the 24 year old suspect who is also responsible for the theft mentioned earlier from the north end box store. He faces charges of assault with a weapon, mischief and breaching his probation order.

 

Running From Police Leads to Charges

On September 3rd at 4:05 am, Brockville Police Officers observed a young male on a downtown street who fled on foot when noticing Police.

Officers located the local 20 year old and found him to be in an intoxicated state. While searching his person subsequent to his arrest Officers located a set of brass knuckles.

When sober, the man was released with a fine for the public intoxication and given a future court date for possession of a prohibited weapon.

 

Suicide Threat

On September 3rd at 6:16 am, Brockville Police attended a south end residence to check on the wellbeing of a local 19 year old female.

She had sent pictures to a friend that showed herself holding a knife to her throat and talking about self harm. Officers located the young woman and apprehended her under the Mental Health Act. She was escorted to hospital for appropriate care and was not injured when contacted by Police.

 

Dog Stabbed

On September 3rd at 1:51 pm, Brockville Police attended the chip wagon in the Giant Tiger parking lot on Central Avenue.

Officers learned that an employee of the chip truck threw out a couple french fries for two dogs in the area. While a smaller dog was getting his share, a larger dog started nipping at the small dog.

The owner of the small dog proceeded to pull a knife from his pocket and stab the larger dog numerous times. The dog was stitched up at the animal hospital and is stable.

The small dog owner, a local 40 year old, was arrested and charged with weapons dangerous and injuring an animal. He was released with a future court date. The accused turned out to be the same man charged with impaired and refusing a breath test in the E-Bike accident the day prior.

 

Improper Storage – Firearm

On September 3rd at 4:42 pm, Brockville Police received information that a shotgun was being improperly stored at a south end residence. Officers attended and seized the firearm which was readily accessible and without a trigger lock.

A local 38 year old male was then looking at charges of careless storage of a firearm, possessing a firearm while prohibited from doing so and breaching his probation. The male was not at the residence when the firearm was seized.

On September 4th at 6:33 pm, Police received a complaint about the way a vehicle was being operated on city streets. Officers stopped the vehicle on Parkedale Avenue and discovered the male wanted for the firearm offence was a passenger.

The driver was sent on his way after his physical condition was checked on. Officers arrested the passenger and a search subsequent to his arrest turned up a quantity of both crystal meth and cocaine along with a set of scales, a small quantity of cash and a list of people who owed money. Another charge of possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking was added.

He will appear in bail court.

 

Outstanding Warrant

On September 3rd at 6:05 pm, Brockville Police took custody of a local 53 year old man after his arrest by neighbouring OPP Officers for a warrant held by our Service.

In March of 2014, the accused sold a stolen cell phone on Kijiji to a local female. The warrant was executed and the man was released on the charge of possession of stolen property.

He now faces a future court date.

 

Robbery

On September 3rd at 6:56 pm, Brockville Police received a robbery complaint from a local 57 year old man.

The victim, a cab driver, was standing outside his vehicle in an apartment building lot. Another vehicle pulled up, a male jumped out and a demand was made for money from the victim in relation to outstanding debts.

The accused, a local 22 year old, then struck the older man in the face and knocks him down. The victim’s backpack was then taken from him and the accused left in the same vehicle with two other males.

The victim suffered cuts to his fingers and elbow.

On September 5th at 10:21 pm, Brockville Police observed the accused operating a vehicle on north end streets along with a male passenger. The vehicle was stopped and the driver arrested for the mentioned robbery.

The 33 year old passenger happened to be subject to an order requiring Police to apprehend him under the Mental Health Act for an assessment.

In the vehicle, Officers located over 500 grams of marijuana (approximately 1 pound). As a result, both men were charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking.

The 22 year old was held for a bail hearing, the 33 year old was taken to local hospital.

The marijuana is valued in excess of $5,000.00

YOUTHS CHARGED IN BREAK-IN

(North Glengarry) – On September 13, 2016 at approximately 8:41am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a break-in at a commercial property on Main Street North in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that three (3) All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) had been stolen. Officers recovered the ATV’s abandoned in a field nearby and intercepted two (2) male youths observed in the area.

A 15-year-old and a 14-year-old, both from North Glengarry Township were arrested and each charged with;

– Break and Enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence

Both were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on November 10, 2016. Their names are being withheld as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal justice Act (YCJA).
FAMILY DISPUTES

(North Glengarry) – On September 13, 2016 at approximately 3:59pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a family dispute at a residence on Dominion Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and a family member resulted in the accused causing damage within the home.

The 18-year-old was arrested and is charged with;

– Mischief Under $5000
– Fail to Comply with YCJA sentence (condition from previous incident)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. His name is being withheld as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal justice Act (YCJA) and to protect the identity of the victim.

(South Glengarry) – On September 13, 2016 at approximately 8:08pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a family dispute at a residence on Duncan Street, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between a female youth and a family member resulted in the accused uttering threats and causing damage within the home. Upon her arrest, she became assaultive towards officers.
The 12-year-old is charged with;

– Assault Peace Officer
– Utter Threats
– Mischief Under $5000

She was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. Her name is being withheld as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal justice Act (YCJA) and to protect the identity of the victim.


18 Year Old Charged With Touching 13 Year Old in Cornwall SEPT 14, 2016

MISCHIEF, THREATS

 

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on September 13th, 2016 and charged with mischief, threats and breach of probation for failing to keep. It is alleged during an argument on September 13th, 2016 the man threatened his common-law wife and damaged a door. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

FRAUD OVER $5000

 

Cornwall, ON – Valentine Mudimbi, 39 of Ottawa was arrested on September 13th, 2016 and charged with Fraud over $5000.00.  It is alleged the woman failed to declare changes in her living arrangements to the Ontario Works Resource Centre between August, 2011 and August 2012 which resulted in an overpayment of $9,015.13. She was taken into custody on September 13th, 2016, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on October 12th, 2016

 

SEXUAL ASSAULT, INVITATION TO SEXUAL TOUCHING

 

Cornwall, ON – An 18-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on September 13th, 2016 and charged with sexual assault and invitation to sexual touching. It is alleged during the month of August, 2016 the man was involved in an intimate relation with a 13-year-old girl and police were contacted to investigate. On September 13th, 2016 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on October 11th, 2016. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

FLIGHT FROM POLICE, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Bryan Devarennes, 47 of Cornwall was arrested on September 13th, 2016 and charged with flight from police and breach of undertaking and probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on September 13th, 2016 the man attempted to flee from police as they were investigating traffic violations while in the area of Second Street and Bedford Street. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

(LEEDS, ON.) – Officers of the Leeds Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing an investigation where two women are being charged with committing an indecent act at a local cemetery.

In July of 2016 OPP were advised of an occurrence that had taken place at Oakland Cemetery located on County Road 2, west of Brockville. Investigation leads to two women being charged with committing an act at a single gravesite.

Charged with Indecent Act, Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada, are 26 year old Katherine COLLINS of Elizabethtown – Kitley Township, and 26 year Haley PEYMAN of Kingston. Both are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Brockville, on the30th of September 2016 to answer to their charge.

Additional charge of Sexual assault laid against a music teacher

 

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Section investigation into allegations of sexual assault against a music teacher resulted in an additional charge.

Jose HERNANDEZ, 70 years old of Brantford Ontario is charged with an additional count of Sexual Assault after a third victim was identified during the investigation.

The allegations against HERNANDEZ are believed to have occurred between 2010 and 2016 while the accused was in the course of his duties as a music teacher at a private studio in Ottawa.

HERNANDEZ will be appearing in court on October 25th 2016.

Investigators are concerned there could be more victims. The investigation continues.

“The Ottawa Police will respect a victim’s wishes to pursue or not pursue the matter before the courts,” said Staff Sergeant Angela McDade, SACA. “The reporting of these incidents by victims to police is key for investigators to identify suspects and determine crime trends.”

Music Teacher Charged with Sex Related Offences

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section has charged a Brantford man following an investigation into allegations that he inappropriately touched two of his students.

The investigation began in May 2016 when the first complaint was received and that led to a second victim being identified. The incidents are believed to have occurred between 2012 and 2016 while the accused was in the course of his duties as a music teacher at a private studio in Ottawa.

On July 19, 2016 the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit (SACA) charged Jose HERNANDEZ, 70 years old, of Brantford, Ontario with one count of Sexual Assault. He was also charged with another count of Sexual Assault on August 16th.  He is to appear in court on August 30th 2016.

SACA Investigators are continuing with the investigation and are concerned there could be more victims.

Gun and Drugs seized on Chesterton Drive

 

(Ottawa) — Dart Officers of the Ottawa Police Service arrested two males in the Chesterton Drive area.

On Wednesday, September 14th, at approximately 9:20pm, Dart Officers were conducting proactive policing in the community, walking paths and park areas of Chesterton Drive when they arrested two males in possession of drugs in plain view. During the arrest, a gun was also located and seized.

Fawaz MUFARREH, 22 of Ottawa is charged with:

*       Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized

7 Charged Ottawa Police Search for Two After Drug & Gun Ring Busted SEPT 15, 2016

Seven people charged with drug and gun charges; drug ring uncovered

 

 

(Ottawa) — A three month investigation by the Ottawa Police Service Drug Unit culminated yesterday with the arrest of five persons and another two remain outstanding. All seven face numerous drug and gun charges.

Over the course of the investigation ten search warrants were executed resulting in the seizure of 10 firearms (6 handguns, 3 submachine guns, 1 long gun along) with 2,000 rounds of ammunition, two vehicles, $85,000.00 in Canadian Currency, 58.5 grams of Crack Cocaine, 113 grams of MDPV (bath salts), 229 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), 15.8 grams of Cocaine, 9 grams of Psilocybin and 125.5 grams of Marihuana.

The investigation uncovered a drug ring that was supplying Northern Ontario locations with drugs from Ottawa and Toronto. Arrests were made last week in the Nipigon area related to this investigation. The Ontario Provincial Police and Thunder Bay Police Service seized 1,400 Morphine capsules and ten Fentanyl patches. Two Ottawa residents are facing charges in that jurisdiction.

The following Ottawa residents have been charged:

All are facing more than 75 criminal charges including: drug trafficking, possession of a firearm, possession of a restricted weapon, possession of weapon dangerous to public, possession of a firearm obtained by crime and many more.

Arrest warrants are outstanding for Khalilulah IRIKEN, 26 years old of Ottawa and Alan MACDONALD, 24 years old of Ottawa. MACDONALD is believed to be in the Toronto area. MACDONALD is very distinctive with full arm and neck tattoos.

Both IRIKEN and MACDONALD should be considered armed and dangerous.
