THEFT

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old North Dundas man was arrested on February 2nd, 2017 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged during an argument with his girlfriend on February 1st, 2017 the man left with her wallet and police were contacted to investigate. On February 2nd, 2017 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Raymond Gervais, 50 of Cornwall was arrested on February 2nd, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on November 18th, 2016 the man assaulted another man causing him to attend the hospital for his injuries. Police were contacted and a warrant was obtained for his arrest. On February 2nd, 2017 the man was located, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on March 2nd, 2017.

Cornwall, ON – Daniel Bourdeau, 41 of Cornwall was arrested on February 2nd, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on January 31st, 2017 for a break and enter charge and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On February 2nd, 2017 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – William King, 50 of Cornwall was arrested on February 1st, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court in January, 2008 for a robbery charge and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On February 1st, 2017 the man was located, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, THREATS

Cornwall, ON – Kayla Piche, 27 of Cornwall was arrested on February 1st, 2017 and charged with assault, assault with a weapon and threats. It is alleged while at the hospital on February 1st, 2017 the woman punched a staff member, pushed a table towards her and threatened staff. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Lacey Arquette, 28 of Akwesasne was arrested on February 3rd, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on February 2nd, 2017 for a theft charge and a warrant issued for her arrest. On February 3rd, 2017 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on February 4th, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the youth failed to attend court on January 26th, 2017 for a possession of stolen property charge and a warrant issued for her arrest. On February 4th, 2017 the youth was located by police, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Cornwall, ON – Patrick Benedict, 56 of St.Regis was arrested on February 4th, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on January 18th, 2017 the man failed to stop at the port of entry and drove a vehicle in dangerous manner damaging a gate. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On February 4th, 2017 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended the Port of Entry as the man in custody on the strength of the warrant. The warrant was executed and man remained in custody for a bail hearing.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Patrick Gillis, 62 of Cornwall was arrested on February 5th, 2017 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Brookdale Avenue and Second Street in the early morning hours of February 5th, 2017 He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 14th, 2017.

ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, SEXUAL ASSAULT, FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT, THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 6th, 2017 and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, sexual assault, forcible confinement and threats. It is alleged in the early morning hours of February 6th, 2017 the man slapped and pushed his girlfriend. He also threatened to kill her and sexually assault her all the while preventing her from leaving the residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT, MISCHIEF OVER $5000

Cornwall, ON – A 63-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 5th, 2017 and charged with assault and mischief over $5000. It is alleged during an argument on February 5th, 2017 the man punched and kicked his girlfriend. He also damaged her car prior to leaving the area. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

Ontario Provincial Police News Portal OPP Media Release STORMONT DUNDAS and GLENGARRY DRUGS SEIZED/ASSAULT/MISCHIEF 2017-02-06

DRUGS SEIZED

(South Glengarry) – On February 4, 2017 at approximately 8:40pm, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of quantities of suspected Xanax pills and marihuana.

The 17-year-old male driver, of Lasalle, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (2 counts)
– Possession of a Controlled Substance

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on March 8, 2017. His name is being withheld as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

(South Dundas) – On February 6, 2017 at approximately 1:57am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an assault incident at a property on County Road 2, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between two (2) adult males resulted in one assaulting the other.

Tyler DUPUIS (20) of Thorold, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on February 28, 2017.
MISCHIEF

(South Glengarry) – On February 5, 2017 – SD&G OPP began an investigation into a report of mischief at the entrance to the Summerstown Trails on County Road 27, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that the wooden posts of the entrance sign had been cut down.

(LEEDS, ON.) –   Members of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing an investigation into possible illegal activity after a traffic stop.

On the 4th of February 2017 at about 10:00 A.M. Members of the Ontario Provincial Police HET (Highway Enforcement Team), in Leeds and the Thousands Islands Township stopped a vehicle on Highway 401 westbound near Gananoque Ont. As a result of an investigation, a quantity of higher end alcohol was located.

The alcohol namely whiskey, scotch, and cognac, along with several cases of beer with a value of $5000.00 was seized pending the outcome of the investigation.

Ontario Provincial Police News Portal OPP Media Release LEEDS COUNTY (Brockville) WRONG WAY IMPAIRED DRIVER 2017-02-07

BROCKVILLE ON –   Members of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing an investigation into a wrong way impaired driver on Highway 401.

.
On the 5th of February 2017 at about 3:40 A.M. Ontario Provincial Police officers in Leeds County were advised by numerous citizens of a vehicle that was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes heading towards Mallorytown. The driver was stopped without incident west of Brockville.

.
Charged with Impaired Driving and Dangerous Driving is 38 year old Daryl BEATON of Kingston.
He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Division in Brockville on the 3rd March 2017 to answer to his charges.

There were no injuries or collisions as a result of this incident.

ROBBERY, BREAK AND ENTER, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, DISGUISE WITH INTENT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Nathaniel Gatien, 30 of Cornwall was arrested on February 7th, 2017 and charged with the following:

robbery with violence
break and enter and commit
assault with a weapon
weapons dangerous
breach of JP recognizance ( for possessing a weapon)
disguise with intent
It is alleged on February 6th, 2017 the man forced his way into a Montreal Road address all the while carrying a metal bar and hiding his identity. Once inside a scuffle ensued with the resident and the man fled the area with the resident’s cell phone. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing

ASSAULT CAUSE BODILY HARM, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Steven Campbell, 37 of Cornwall was arrested on February 7th, 2017 and charged with assault cause bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of recognizance for being in possession of a weapon. It is alleged on February 4th, 2017 the man assaulted a man known to him with a flashlight causing him to seek medical attention. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On February 7th, 2017 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Tanner Jock, 25 of Snye was arrested on February 7th, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend for prints and a warrant was issued for his arrest. ON February 7th, 2017 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on March 14th, 2017.

Cornwall, ON – Mary Garlow, 51 of Akwesasne was arrested on February 7th, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on December 12th, 2016 and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On February 7th, 2017 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service assumed custody of the woman from Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service as they had the woman in custody on the strength of Cornwall’s warrant. She was transported to police headquarters and released to appear in court on February 28th, 2017.

MISCHIEF OVER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Craig Hopkins, 39 of Cornwall was arrested on February 7th, 2017 and charged with mischief over $5000. It is alleged sometime between January 24th and January 25th, 2017 the man did extensive damage to four vehicles belonging to persons he knew. He also spray painted their driveway. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released tyo appear in court on March 14th, 2017.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Dustin Carter, 22 of Cornwall was arrested on February 8th, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged sometime in September, 2016 the man took a laptop and cell phone from someone known to him and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation a warrant was obtained for the arrest of the man. On February 8th, 2017 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear on court on March 9th, 2017.

OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL MOTOR COLLISION

(Ottawa, ON) –The Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a motor vehicle collision on Highway 417.

At approximately 5:57 am, a Tractor Trailer Westbound on Highway 417 near Carling Avenue when a dual wheel assembly set became detached. The wheel assembly jumped the cement median and struck a van, which was traveling Eastbound.

The driver of the van sustained fatal injuries.  The identity of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

Highway 417 remains closed at this time for investigative purposes.

UPDATE # 2 OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL MOTOR COLLISION
Driver Identified and Charges Laid

(Ottawa, ON) –The Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police investigated a motor vehicle collision on Highway 417.

The driver of the van, who died as a result of the collision, has been identified as Gennadi BRIANSKI ( 50 yrs old) from Carleton Place, ON.

The driver of the Commercial Motor vehicle (Daniel Mongeon of Gatineau) has been charged with Drive Commercial Motor Vehicle with Parts Detached (Highway Traffic Act).

The company who owned the tractor trailer unit, ICB Food Distribution of Ottawa was charged with Permit Operation of an Unsafe Commercial Motor Vehicle. (Highway Traffic Act).

Both are to appear in Provincial Court in Ottawa on March 31st 2017 at 1:30pm.

FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(North Dundas) – On February 11, 2017 at approximately 10:09am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 3 near North Wing Road, North Dundas Township.

Investigation indicated that a Dodge pick-up truck, driven by lone occupant Louise HOOGSTEEN (57) of Russell, Ontario, was southbound on County Road 3 when, for reasons under investigation, she lost control causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and subsequently roll over. Morewood Fire Department attended the scene for extrication purposes. The driver was taken to hospital where she was pronounced deceased. A section of County Road 3 was closed to traffic but has since re-opened.

THEFT OVER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Eric Guerin, 42 of Cornwall was arrested on February 11th, 2017 and charged with theft over $5000. It is alleged during January and February, 2017 the man withdrew money that was entrusted to him from an account and police were contacted to investigate. On February 11th, 2017 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 5th, 2017.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old Akwesasne man was arrested on February 11th, 2017 and charged with breach of undertaking for communicating with a person he has conditions not to communicate with. It is alleged on February 11th, 2017 the man was found to be in the company of the person he has conditions not to associate with during a traffic stop. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as the conditions stem from a domestic incident and would identify the victim.

BREAK AND ENTER, ASSAULT, THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 12th, 2017 and charged with break and enter, assault, theft and breach of probation for being in the company of someone he has conditions not to associate with, being at her residence and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged in the early morning hours of February 12th, 2017 the man forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s residence then punched and bit her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

Cornwall, ON- Jerette Derochie, 20 of Martintown was arrested on February 9th, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged during 2016 the man breached his probation conditions and warrants were issued for his arrest. On February 9th, 2017 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended the Cornwall Courthouse as the man was in custody on unrelated charges. The warrant was executed and the man remained in custody for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – Rene Delorme, 54 of Cornwall was arrested on February 9th, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on January 31st, 2017 for a possession of a controlled substance charge and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On February 9th, 2017 the man was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant during a traffic stop and held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – Calsey Bigtree-Thompson, 25 of St.Regis was arrested on February 9th, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on October 20th, 2016 and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On February 9th, 2017 members of the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service took the woman into custody on the strength of Cornwall’s warrant and turned her over to Cornwall’s custody. The warrant was executed and the woman was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – Brian Colborne, 24 of Cornwall was arrested on February 13th, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man breached his probation and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On February 13th, 2017 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended the Cornwall Courthouse as the man was in custody on unrelated charges. The warrant was executed and the man remained in custody for a bail hearing.

ROBBERY WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE

Cornwall, ON – Sunny Rae Nelson, 29 of Cornwall was arrested on February 14th, 2017 and charged with robbery with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of undertaking for not residing at a specified address, failing to notify a change of address and being in possession of a weapon. It is alleged in the early morning hours of February 14th, 2017 the woman threatened a worker at a front desk of a local motel with a needle all the while demanding money. The woman left with a quantity of cash and police were contacted. The woman was located a short distance away, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 13th, 2017 and charged with assault and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during arguments on February 13th, 2017 the man pushed his common-law wife on several occasions and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim.

STORM RELATED INCIDENTS – RESULTS

(SD&G) – The adverse weather received over the past weekend (February 11-13, 2017) across the United Counties resulted in several traffic related incidents. Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a total of 98 (Stormont-27, Dundas-15, Glengarry-56) calls for service consisting of collisions (1 fatality, added to OPP News Portal 11Feb17 – several resulting in minor injuries) and vehicles in ditches/median.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(South Glengarry) – On February 10, 2017 at approximately 9:54pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a vehicle being driven erratically on County Road 34, South Glengarry Township. The vehicle was intercepted and the adult female driver was found to be under the influence of a drug. Upon arrest, a quantity of suspected methamphetamine was seized.

Mary CHENIER (36) of North Glengarry Township is charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired by Drug
– Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample
– Possession of a Controlled Substance

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on March 8, 2017.
ASSAULT

(Cornwall, ON) – On February 10, 2017 – SD&G OPP began an investigation into a reported assault incident which had occurred at a residence in the City of Cornwall between January and February 2017. Investigation indicated that an adult male has assaulted a family member (male youth).

A 37-year-old male from Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with:

– Assault

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on March 14, 2017. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

FAMILY DISPUTE – DANGEROUS DRIVE

(North Dundas) – On February 13, 2017 at approximately 9:30am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to report of a family dispute at a residence in North Dundas Township (north of Chesterville). Investigation indicated that an altercation between a male and a family member resulted in the suspect taking a vehicle, intentionally colliding with another and leaving the scene. He was located by officers and arrested.

A 19-year-old male from Champlain Township is charged with;

– Take Motor Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent
– Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on March 7, 2017. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(South Glengarry) – On February 13, 2017 – an SD&G OPP officer conducting speed measuring enforcement in South Glengarry Township intercepted the following vehicle for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit was seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– February 13, 2017 – 10:37pm (Highway 401-South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 176km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (21) from Ottawa, Ontario charged accordingly.

OPP Officer Charged in Relation to Arrest of Woman in North Grenville

Case Number: 16-PCI-286

Mississauga, ON (15 February, 2017) —  The Director of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Tony Loparco, has reasonable grounds to believe an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer with the Kemptville detachment committed a criminal offence in relation to the arrest of a woman in November of 2016. Director Loparco has caused a charge to be laid against the officer.

The SIU investigation found the following:
  • In the early morning hours of Monday, November 14, 2016, officers were dispatched to a residence in North Grenville after 911 received a call. The officers spoke with a 53-year-old woman who lived in the residence, and then left.
  • The officers returned to the woman’s home a short time later. There was an interaction between the officers and the woman, and she was subsequently arrested.
As a result of the SIU investigation, 36-year-old OPP Constable Thomas Hogbin is facing one count of assault, contrary to s. 266 of the Criminal Code.
The officer is required to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at 41 Court House Square in Brockville on March 10, 2017.
The matter is now properly before the courts. In consideration of the fair trial interests of the accused, the SIU will make no further comment pertaining to this investigation.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault. Under the Police Services Act, the Director of the SIU must

  • consider whether an officer has committed a criminal offence  in connection with the incident under investigation
  • depending on the evidence, lay a criminal charge against the officer if appropriate or close the file without any charges being laid
  • report the results of any investigations to the Attorney General.

(South Stormont) – On February 16, 2017 at approximately 2:09 pm, Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Highway 138, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his ex- spouse resulted in the male threatening the female. Investigation also revealed that male was in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident.

 

 

The 37-year-old male from Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

 

– Uttering Threats

– Fail to Comply with Undertaking

 

 

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

 

The name of the accused person in the above incident is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

 

 

 

THEFT OF TOOLS

 

(South Stormont) – On February 16, 2017 at approximately 8:11pm, SD&G OPP responded to a report of the theft of tools and plumbing fixtures at a property on County Road 12, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that sometime between (February 15-16, 2017) Culprit(s) removed several power tools and plumbing fixtures from the property.

Cornwall Police Seek Assistance FEB 17, 2017

PUBLIC ASSISTANCE

Cornwall, ON – The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a collision that occurred on January 17th, 2017 involving a white SUV and a Black SUV at approximately 4:30 pm at the corner of Brookdale Avenue and Fourteenth Street. Police are asking if anyone has any information about the collision or if anyone may have witnessed the incident to contact Cst. Virtue at 613-933-5000 ext 2782

ASSAULT, THREATS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 14th, 2017 and charged with assault, threats and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during an argument on February 12th, 2017 the man threatened and pushed his girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On February 14th, 2017 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Darrell Reid, 37 of Cornwall was arrested on February 14th, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on January 19th, 2017 for a mischief charge and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On February 14th, 2017 the man was located by police, taken into custody on the strength of the arrant and released to appear in court at a later date.

(TORONTO, ON) – The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) Squad is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a federal offender wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant as a result of his breach of parole.

 

Kyle SMITH is described as an Indigenous male, 26 years of age, 5’8(173cm), 150 lbs (68kg) with brown hair and brown eyes.

 

He is serving a 4 year and 10 month sentence for Possession of a Firearm, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Carry a Concealed Weapon and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

 

The offender is known to frequent the Greater Toronto Area, Stratford, Walkerton and London Ontario.

POLICE CHARGE SMITHS FALLS MAN WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENCES

 

(SMITH FALLS, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit and the OPP Technological Crime Unit assisted by the Smiths Falls Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have arrested and charged a Smiths Falls man following a five week child pornography investigation.

 

On February 15, 2017 police executed a search warrant at a Smiths Falls residence. The investigation lead to the accused being located at a nearby home.

 

On February 15, 2017, police arrested and charged Daniel Roger DAOUST, age 26 years of Smiths Falls Ontario with three counts of Possession of Child Pornography and two counts of Making Available Child Pornography.

 

The accused has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on February 23, 2017, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth Ontario.

 

The investigation is continuing.

Impaired Driving Charges Against OPS Member

 

(Ottawa)—   A member of the Ottawa Police Service has been charged with impaired driving related offences following a traffic stop this morning.

Cst. Christian Nungisa was charged with Impaired operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operation of a Motor Vehicle over .08.

The traffic stop occurred at about 5:30 a.m. in Ottawa.

Cst. Nungisa remains under suspension.

Impaired Snow Mobile Charges in Ottawa FEB 21, 2017

Two Impaired Snowmobilers Arrested in Osgoode

 

 (Ottawa) — Overnight on Friday, February 17th, 2017, the Ottawa Police Service MDT (Marine Dive and Trails) Unit was out on snowmobiles, conducting a safety blitz and looking for impaired snowmobile drivers and verifying their required documents.

As a result of the operation, 19 year old of Ottawa, Darcy SIMSER was charged with impaired operation, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest.

An hour later, officers intercepted a second impaired snowmobiler, who also tried to flee and struck a police snowmobile. As a result of that incident, 20 year old of Ottawa, Christopher COOPER was charged with impaired operation, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, and assaulting a peace officer.

The Ottawa Police Service would like to remind snowmobilers to drive sober, and to stop when signalled to do so as required by law. The trails will continue to be monitored for impaired drivers until the end of season.
