Aggressive Female Cornwall Driver Collides With Tanker on 401 Near Brockville 031418

(LEEDS, ON.) – Officers of the Leeds Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a female after a traffic complaint that lead to a collision.

On March 14, 2018 at about 5:10 A.M O.P.P officers received a call from a concerned citizen reporting an aggressive driver who was reportedly swerving towards transport vehicles on eastbound Highway 401. About five minutes later the involved vehicle collided with a tanker truck on Highway 401, east of Highway 137 in Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township. Reports were that the female had fled on foot from the collision scene.

The 58 year old female driver from Cornwall was located about 1 kilometer away by OPP officers and was taken to hospital in Brockville for medical assessment. She has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Careless Driving.

A portion of Highway 401 was closed briefly to allow for the investigation.

March 11 – 12, 2018 Incidents

Drug Offence

On March 10, 2018 at approximately 5:00p.m., an officer from the Brockville Police Service performed a traffic stop in the Center of the City. There were three occupants in this vehicle. The driver at the time was a 37 year old, local male, known to be wanted by police for uttering a forged document. That male was arrested and charged with that offence. He was later released with a court date. The incident continued however, as a very strong odour of marijuana was coming from the vehicle. Investigation revealed that one of the passengers, a 40 year old, local male, was in possession of approximately 31 grams of marijuana. He was arrested, charged and released with a future court date.

 

Dispute

On March 11, 2018 at approximately 5:30p.m., the Brockville Police Service responded to a call of a dispute between two males in the South of the City. After speaking with both males involved it was determined that charges would be laid. The accused person is a local, 26 year old male, who was arrested and charged with assault. He was later released with a future court date.

Distracted Driving Campaign

The Brockville Police Service will be participating in next weeks distracted driving campaign along with the Ontario Provincial Police. The campaign will run from Monday March 12, to Sunday March 18 and will focus on education and enforcement of drivers using hand-held devices.

This traffic violation carries a $490 fine and three demerit points. Please drive safe!

March 8 – 9, 2018 Incidents




Bail ViolationsAt 4:00 pm police were called to a downtown residence as the caller was wishing to report a breach of bail conditions. As a result of their investigation a 44 year old male and 31 year old female were arrested for various breaches and held for a bail hearing.The female was also charged for assault as information came forward from the complainant about a previous incident earlier in the week.

 

Break and Enter

A break and enter suspect was caught by the home owner at 9:00 pm last night. The resident had left his partner, who was sleeping, in the residence while he went to the store. As he returned he observed the suspect fleeing out the back door. He gave chase, caught the suspect and held on to him until police arrived.

The 28 year old suspect has been charged with break and enter, possession of break and enter tools as well as possession of crystal methamphetamine and cocaine.

March 7 – 8, 2018 Incidents

Theft

A local youth was dealt with after it was discovered he was trying to sell a pair of shoes that he had stolen earlier in the day. The complainant had contacted police to report his “Air Jordan” shoes had been stolen. Police then received a complaint of the youth attempting to sell them to other kids in the area. The shoes were recovered and returned to the rightful owner.

March 6 – 7, 2018 Incidents

Drugs/theft

A 28 year old male was arrested yesterday on Buell St. by an observant officer. The officer had a photo of a suspect from a theft at the city’s library. As he pulled up on Buell St. to gather more information he observed the suspect exit a vehicle. He was arrested for the theft, and searched. The officer located cocaine on his person as well as a vehicle full of stolen property from another incident. The accused has been charged with theft, possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a controlled substance.

 

Warrants

A 35 year old female turned herself into police and was arrested for failing to attend court. She was released with a future court date.

 

Assault Peace Officer

A 23 year old inmate spat on correctional staff at the Brockville Jail yesterday. He has been charged with assaulting a peace officer.

 

Police Assistance

The Brockville Police assisted with the arrest of a 27 year old male today at a downtown address. The male was wanted by Kingston Police for accessing child pornography. He has been turned over to the Kingston Police Service.

 

March 5 – 6, 2018 Incidents

Warrants

A local 54 year old male was located by Kingston Police and arrested as the result of a fraud investigation conducted by our service. Officers attended and took custody of the male, returning him to Brockville to answer to the charge.

 

Counterfeit

 

We continue to receive reports of counterfeit bills, both Canadian and American, being circulated in our city. These are the same counterfeit bills that were previously reported to have Asian writing on them. The suspects are now removing that writing and passing off the bills. There have been several arrests made in connection with the counterfeits, but the problem seems to persist.

 

March 4 – 5, 2018

Warrants

A 39 year old male was arrested Sunday afternoon for his outstanding warrants for failing to attend court. He was charged and released with a future court date.

 

Noise Complaint/breach of conditions

Police responded to a noise complaint this morning at 2:00 am at a King St. address. As officers were speaking with the person about the noise they discovered that he was in possession of a crossbow contrary to his court ordered conditions. A 51 year old male was arrested for the offence and released with a future court date.

 

Stolen vehicle

Officers on routine patrol observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red flashing light at 3:00 am this morning. The officers conducted a traffic stop and discovered a 15 year old male had taken his parent’s vehicle out for a joy ride. He was charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent.

March 3 – 4, 2018 Incidents

Stolen Vehicle

On March 3rd, 2018 at approximately 2:00p.m., the Brockville Police Service responded to a complaint of a stolen vehicle from a residence in the South end of the City. Officers responded and through investigation were able to locate the suspects attempting to flee from the vehicle in the North end of the City. The suspect was of the theft was a 23 year old, local female who was placed under arrest. She was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and released with a future court date. Another police agency had warrants for her arrest and she was turned over to them to deal with charges out of that jurisdiction.

Another male involved in the incident was arrested as well. He was involved at the North end scene, at a store’s parking lot, where the stolen vehicle was abandoned. That 38 year old, local male, was arrested for breaching his house arrest bail conditions and possession of approximately one and a half grams of a substance believed to be Crystal Meth. He was charged for the possession of a substance and breaching his bail conditions. He was held for bail.

 

Warrants

On March 3rd, 2018 at approximately 6:00p.m., the Brockville Police Service responded to a complaint of a person apparently breaking into a ground floor apartment at a building in the North end of the City. On police arrival a 31 year old, local female, was located and arrested on outstanding warrants for failing to attend court. She was also charged with breaching bail conditions and held in custody.

 

Disturbance

On the March 4, 2018 at approximately 12:30a.m., the Brockville Police Service attended an establishment in the Center of the City in response to a fight. On police arrival it was determined that a fight had broken out between multiple females at a large function. A 27 year old, local female, was arrested and charged for multiple counts of assault. She was taken into custody and released once sober with a future court appearance.

 

March 2 – 3, 2018 Incidents

Disturbances

On March 3rd, 2018 at approximately 1:00 A.m., the Brockville Police Service responded to a disturbance at a downtown area local establishment. It was determined that a fight had taken place and two local males, 23 and 32 years of age, were identified as participants in the altercation. They were both fined under the Brockville City By-law for fighting in a public place. There were no serious injuries in this altercation.

It is to be noted that this was one of multiple disturbances of this nature reported last night which all occurred in a very short time span. Luckily, no one reported serious injuries.

 

March 1 – 2, 2018 Incidents

Warrants

A local 35 year old male was located and arrested by the Brockville Police Service for several outstanding criminal charges. Officers recognized the male while on routine patrol at 1:30 am on the 2nd of March.

THREATS

Cornwall, ON – James Masson, 42, of Cornwall was arrested on March 14th, 2018 and charged with threats. It is alleged on February 28th, 2018 the man threatened his probation officer and police were contacted to investigate. On March 14th, 2018 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.



BREACH, FRAUD

Cornwall, ON – A 44-year-old Akwesasne man was arrested on March 15th, 2018 and charged with fraud. He was also charged with breach of recognizance for consuming alcohol, as well as breach of undertaking for communicating with his ex-girlfriend, being within 100 meters of her and for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on March 2nd, 2018 the man attended a Brookdale Avenue restaurant and left the restaurant, making no attempt to pay for his meal. It is also alleged on March 15th, 2018 the intoxicated man attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence, despite his conditions, and police were contacted to investigate. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as the conditions stem from domestic incidents and would identify the victim in the matter.

There were 34 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in the last 24 hours (8am the previous day to 8am the day of the release).

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on March 15th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the youth removed merchandise from a Second Street East business, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On March 15th, 2018 the youth was located by police, was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

VOYEURISM

Cornwall, ON – Adam Leroux, 34, of Cornwall was arrested on March 15th, 2018 and charged with voyeurism. As a result of an ongoing investigation where he was charged with sexual assault, further investigation revealed the man was allegedly taking inappropriate pictures of a woman who was known to him. On March 15th, 2018 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 12th, 2018.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Kaila Clements, 31, of Cornwall was arrested on March 15th, 2018 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of recognizance for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on January 17th, 2018 the woman attended a Brookdale Avenue store and removed a set of headphones, making no attempt to pay for the item as she left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 15th, 2018, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Kevin Harper, 31, of Cornwall was arrested on March 15th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on March 1st, 2018 for drug related charges and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On March 15th, 2018 the man was located by police, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and was released to appear in court on April 17th, 2018.



FRAUD

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on March 15th, 2018 and charged with fraud under $5000. It is alleged throughout November 2017, the woman accessed the online bank account of her ex-boyfriend and made several e-transfers to her own bank account without his permission. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 15th, 2018 she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 26th, 2018. Her name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

MISCHIEF, THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 23-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 15th, 2018 and charged with threats and mischief. It is alleged between November 2016 and March 2018 the man threatened his ex-common-law wife and damaged numerous pieces of property in her residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 15th, 2018, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

There were 35 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in the last 24 hours (8am the previous day to 8am the day of the release).

(NORTH GLENGARRY,ON) – On March 13, 2018 at approximately 10:09 am, Stormont Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a threatening incident at a residence on Glen Robertson Main Street, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male threatened a family member at the location.

 

Normand LACOMBE (57) North Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

 

– Uttering Threats ( 2 counts)

 

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

 




BREAK IN

 

(NORTH GLENGARRY,ON) – On March 15, 2018 at approximately 6:07am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a break-in at a business on Laggan Glenelg Road, North Glengarry Township.

Investigation indicated that sometime overnight March 14-15, 2018 culprit(s) entered a business (garage) and removed copper wire, fittings and electrical wire.

Ottawa High School teacher charged with Sexual offences

 

(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Unit has charged an Ottawa man following an investigation into sexual offenses that occurred at a local school between 2014 and 2016.

At the time, the man was teaching at St. Patrick’s High School of the Ottawa Catholic School Board in Ottawa.

Today, Robert LAVERGNE, 55 years old, of Ottawa has been charged with Sexual assault and Sexual exploitation of a female under the age of 18.  He is scheduled to appear in court on April 25, 2018.

SACA investigators are concerned that there could be other victims.

Ottawa man facing firearms charges

(Ottawa)–On March 16, 2018, members of DART received information that a male was in possession of a firearm.

The male suspect was arrested early today while he was driving in the area of Woodroffe Avenue and Strandherd Drive by DART.

A loaded handgun and ammunition was located in the vehicle.

Abdulaziz MUFFAREH, 29 years old of Ottawa will be charged with several firearms related offences including Possession of a loaded firearm and Occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm.  He is being held for show cause on Saturday, March 17.

THEFT UNDER $5000, POSSESSION OF WEAPON, BREACH, ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – Sarah Bombardier, 25, of Cornwall was arrested on March 16th, 2018 and charged with the following:
• Theft under $5000
• Assault
• Possession of a weapon
• Breach of probation

It is alleged on March 16th, 2018 the woman attended a Second Street East business and removed property, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. She was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and subsequently assaulted him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 16th, 2018 the woman was taken into custody and found to be in possession of brass knuckles. She was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 17th, 2018.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – Jordan Johnson, 19, of Cornwall was arrested on March 17th 2018 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an altercation on March 4th, 2018, the man assaulted another man and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 26th, 2018.

TRANSPORTATION FRAUD, THEFT UNDER $5000, POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Ronald Regnier, 46, of Cornwall was arrested on March 18th, 2018 and charged with the following:
• Transportation fraud
• Theft under $5000
• Possession of property obtained by crime
• Breach of probation
• Breach of undertaking

It is alleged on March 17th, 2018 and March 18th, 2018 the man attended local businesses and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the stores. It is further alleged the man also did not pay for his taxi fare. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 26th, 2018.



THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on March 18th, 2018 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of recognizance for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on March 16th, 2018 the youth attended a Brookdale Avenue business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the item as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 18th, 2018 the youth attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. The name of the youth was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

There were 120 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the weekend (8am Friday to 8am Monday morning).

(SOUTH GLENGARRY,ON) – On March 16, 2018 at approximately 5:11pm Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Military Road South, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated a female was in contravention of previous release conditions.

 

Leah PATRIE of Winnipeg, Manitoba was arrested and is charged with;

 

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order (2 counts)

– Fail to comply with Undertaking ( 2 count)

 

 

She was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

 




CHARGES LAID RELATING TO BREAK IN

 

 

(NORTH GLENGARRY,ON) – On March 16, 2018 at approximately 6:50pm Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on Glen Robertson Road, North Glengarry Township.

Investigation indicated that a male had entered the home unlawfully.

 

Gaetan MENARD (56) of North Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

 

– Unlawfully in a dwelling house

 

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

                                                                                          

IMPAIRED DRIVER

 

 

(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – On March 16, 2018 at approximately 8:45pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducted a traffic stop on County Road 3, North Dundas Township. The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

 

Chad HANNIMAN (38) of North Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

 

– Drive a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

– Drive a motor vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

 

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on March 29, 2018.

 

 

ASSAULT

 

 

(SOUTH STORMONT,ON) – On March 18, 2018 at approximately 3:27am, Stormont, Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a disturbance outside a business on Cornwall Center road, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation occurred resulting in a adult male striking another adult male.

 

Mathieu CAMERON-LALONDE (20) from Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

 

– Assault Cause Bodily Harm

 

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on May1, 2017.

 

 

 

 

CHARGES LAID RELATING TO BREAK IN

 

 

(SOUTH DUNDAS,ON) – On March 18, 2018 at approximately 3:14am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on Hulbert road, South Dundas Township.

Investigation indicated that 4 suspects entered a residence and threatened a male inside the residence. Further investigation revealed that the males had damaged the victim’s property.

 

Members of the SD&G OPP arrested two males and two females in connection with the break-in.

 

Dustin TYO (18) of South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

 

– Break and Enter

– Uttering threats ( 3 counts)

– Mischief Under $5000

 

A 17 year-old male from South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

Melissa GERVAIS (23) of North Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

 

– Break and Enter

 

A 17 year-old female of South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

TYO was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

The 17 year-old male was released and scheduled to appear at Ontario court in Cornwall April 11, 2018

Gervais was released and is scheduled to appear at Ontario Court in Morrisburg May1, 2018

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on March 19th, 2018 and charged with breach of recognizance for communicating with her ex-boyfriend. It is alleged on March 18th, 2018 the woman contacted her ex-boyfriend, despite her conditions, and police were contacted. The woman attended police headquarters on March 19th, 2018 to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as the conditions stem from a domestic incident and would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Anthony Anson, 26, of Ottawa was arrested on March 19th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. As a result of an ongoing investigation into a drug warrant that was executed in November, 2017, a warrant was obtained for additional drug-related charges. On March 19th, 2018 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.



FRAUD OVER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Suzanne Desnoyers, 44, of Cornwall was arrested on March 19th, 2018 and charged with Fraud over $5000.00. It is alleged the woman failed to declare changes in her living arrangements to the Ontario Works Resource Centre between August, 2009 and March, 2015 which resulted in an overpayment of $57,654.81. She was taken into custody on March 19th, 2018, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 12th, 2018.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Kyle Dussiaume, 20, of Cornwall was arrested on March 19th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged between August 27th-29th, 2017, the man attended the residence of a male and female known to him and removed property from the residence without permission. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On March 19th, 2018 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on April 12th, 2018.

OBSTRUCT POLICE

Cornwall, ON – Lori McConkey, 54, of Williamstown was arrested on March 19th, 2018 and charged with obstruct police. It is alleged while police were investigating an unrelated matter on March 19th, 2018 the woman repeatedly interfered with the police investigation. Woman Arrested after Violent Assault and Firearms Offences

A 45-year-old local woman has been arrested after she violently assaulted her spouse and then went after a woman with a loaded rifle.

On March 19, 2018 the accused became enraged when she suspected her husband was being unfaithful. The accused tracked him down at a mutual friend’s residence and then hit him multiple times with a guitar. When other persons in the residence attempted to get the accused out a back door, she picked up a pot of boiling water and threw it at her husband. As a result of the attack the victim suffered scratches and burns, however the incident was not reported to police at that time.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. the accused located the female victim at a west end hotel on Princess Street. The accused entered the female victim’s room with a loaded .22 caliber rifle, but was forced out of the room by a male. Police were called and located the accused sitting in her vehicle in the parking lot with the rifle.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with assault, assault with a weapon, mischief, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, use firearm, possession of a firearm without a licence.

Second Degree Murder Parolee Arrested for Domestic Assault

A 62-year-old local man on conditional release for two counts of second degree murder has been arrested after police learn he assaulted his ex.

In early September 2017 the victim and accused were arguing in their residence. During the course of the argument the accused grabbed the victim by her throat and held her up against a wall. The incident was not reported until March 14, 2018 when the victim disclosed the assault to a friend.

On March 15, 2018 Officers located the accused at his residence and arrested him without incident.

The accused is a federal offender currently on conditional release for two counts of second degree murder from 1981. As a result of being charged with assault in relation to this incident, the accused parole has been revoked. After a bail hearing he was transported direct to a federal holding facility.

ASSAULT, FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 20th, 2018 and charged with assault, forcible confinement and breach of recognizance for communicating with his ex-girlfriend. It is alleged between March 10th-16th, 2018, the man assaulted his ex-girlfriend and prevented her from leaving the residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.



WARRANT, BREAK AND ENTER, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Linzey Brownell, 23, and Scottie Brownell-Lauzon, 26, of Cornwall were arrested on March 20th, 2018 and charged with break and enter. The woman was further charged with breach of undertaking and the man with breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on March 20th, 2018 the man and woman entered a residence without permission and police were contacted to investigate. It was learned the man was also wanted by police for allegedly failing to report a change of address in February, 2018, despite his conditions. Both were both taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 26th, 2018.

Ottawa man charged with child pornography offences

(Ottawa) – In early November 2017 a member of the Ottawa Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) was conducting a proactive investigation on a Peer to Peer (P2P) network. P2P is a commonly-used file sharing network for users to share files, including images and videos, of Child Pornography.

The ICE investigator identified an IP address located in the Ottawa area sharing thousands of files of suspected child pornography.

A search warrant was subsequently executed today in the Golden Triangle area. Digital devices were examined that revealed an extensive collection of images and videos of Child Pornography.

Michael PETRUSIC, 55 years old, of Ottawa, is charged with:

*       2 Make Available Child Pornography s. 163.1(3) of the Criminal Code

*       3 Possession Child Pornography s. 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code

He will appear at show cause court on Thursday, March 22, 2018.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Daniel Cook, 32, of St. Andrew’s West was arrested on March 21st, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on January 20th, 2017 the man failed to stop for police and drove in a dangerous manner and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On March 21st, 2018, a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended the Cornwall Courthouse as the male was held in custody on an unrelated matter. The man was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – Sebastien Tremblay, 30, of Cornwall was arrested on March 21st, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on March 15th, 2018 for a theft charge and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on April 26th, 2018.

Man Caught Driving Despite Impaired Release Condition and 2 Suspensions

A 65-year-old local man was arrested and his vehicle impounded after he drove despite being on a release condition not to drive and two separate driving suspensions.

On March 21, 2018 at approximately 3:00 p.m. the accused was driving westbound on Taylor Kidd Boulevard. A patrol officer familiar with the vehicle, knew the owner was on conditions not to drive as a result of impaired driving charges.

The officer activated emergency lights however the accused continued traveling westbound at approximately 50 km/h. The officer activated the siren and the accused continued, making two turns before pulling into an address on Amberdale Crescent. The accused was arrested as he exited the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed the accused had no insurance for the vehicle, his licence plate validation was expired from November 2016, and he was under two separate provincial driving suspensions.

His vehicle was impounded for seven days and the accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing.

The accused was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with breach undertaking. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with driver motor vehicle with no currently validated permit, and two counts of drive suspend, and under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with drive no insurance.

Man Charged after Secretly Recording Victim in Washroom

A 48-year-old Odessa man has been charged after an investigation into videos on his phone of his ex in the washroom.

In January 2018 the complainant discovered the videos of her using the washroom that had been taken without her knowledge. The complainant reported the incident to police and the phone was seized for evidence. After obtaining judicial authorization police examined the phone and located three videos taken from a vantage point above the toilet. The videos were dated from April 2016 to October 2017.

On March 20, 2018 the accused turned himself in at police headquarters. The accused was arrested and later released on conditions with a future court date.

The accused was charged with voyeurism.

DRUGS AND CASH SEIZED

 

(SOUTH STORMONT, ON) On March 20, 2018 at 10:19am, members of the Community Street Crime Unit, (ERT) and SD&G OPP officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 138, South Stormont Township. This resulted in the seizure of a quantity of Marihuana and methamphetamine pills plus an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency.

 

Danial COOK (32) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

 

– Possession of a Controlled Substance for the purpose of Trafficking (2 counts)

– Possession of a controlled substance

– Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

– Fail to comply with conditions of a recognizance (6 counts)

– Resist peace officer

 

Kyle FREEMAN (28) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

 

– Possession of a Controlled Substance for the purpose of Trafficking (2 counts)

– Possession of a controlled substance

– Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

 

 

COOK was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

Freeman was released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on May 15, 2018.

 

BREACH OF CONDITIONS

 

(SOUTH DUNDAS, ON) – On March 20, 2018 at approximately 11:24am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a domestic disturbance on County Road 18, South Dundas Township. An Investigation indicated that a female was in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident. Further investigation revealed that she had entered the residence unlawfully and removed property.

 

A 30-year-old female from Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

 

– Fail to Comply Recognizance (11 counts)

– Unlawfully in dwelling

– Theft under $5000

– Uttering threats (2 counts)

– Fail to comply with Probation order (11 counts)

– Mischief under $5000

– Break and enter

– Possession of a controlled substance

 

She was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

Her name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

(SOUTH DUNDAS, ON) – On March 21, 2018 at approximately 3:24pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation in a vehicle on Fifth Street East in South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation had taken place between a female and her wife. The Investigation revealed that the female had assaulted his wife.

 

A 38-year-old female from Calgary, Alberta was arrested and is charged with;

 

– Assault (2 counts)

 

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

(NORTH GLENGARRY, ON) – On March 21, 2018 at approximately 4:32pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Glen Robertson Road, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated a male was in contravention of previous release conditions.

 

Normand LACOMBE (57) was arrested and is charged with;

Large drug seizure East of Ottawa

 

(EMBRUN, ON) On March 22, 2018, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) – Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a Search Warrant in Embrun Ontario. The search warrant was the culmination of an investigation by the Russell County OPP Community Street Crime Unit which began with several complaints from members of the community.

Investigators seized over a kilogram of cocaine, over 55,000 methamphetamine pills (speed), over five kilograms of cannabis resin (hash), cannabis marihuana, drug trafficking equipment, cash, weapons and contraband cigarettes. The total value of the drugs seized has an estimated street value of over $350,000.

Rejean LALONDE, a 52-year old male from Embrun Ontario, was arrested on March 22, 2018 and charged with the following:

  • One count of Possession of a Schedule II for the purpose of trafficking – under 3kg,
  • One count of Possession of a Schedule I for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine,
  • One count of Possession of a Schedule I for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine,
  • One count of Possession of a Schedule II for the purpose of trafficking – over 3kg,
  • One count of Trafficking in contraband tobacco,
  • One count of Possession of property obtained by crime in Canada under 5000$, and
  • Three counts of Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.

He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario court of Justice located in L’Orignal Ontario on March 23, 2018.

OPP INVESTIGATE ASSAULT AT HIGH SCHOOL

 

(TOWN OF PERTH, ON) – Officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) supported by Detectives from the Lanark County OPP Crime Unit are continuing to investigate an assault involving students from the Perth and District Collegiate Institute (PDCI).

 

At 11:30am on Thursday March 22, 2018 officers were called to the High School located on Victoria Street in the Town of Perth.



During the course of the investigation the officers received further information of a threat to students. The officers were able to establish the source of the information and determined that the reported threat was unfounded.

 

Social Media platforms provide individuals with an audience with whom they can express personal opinions which generate online discussion and comment.

 

Lanark County Detachment Commander Derek NEEDHAM said “We aware that there has been significant information being shared on social media that, although inaccurate, has caused some concern for students and parents. To provide a degree of comfort to students attending classes today, uniformed members will have a presence at PDCI”

Theft of Vehicle and Trailer

Police Seeks Assistance

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) needs your help in solving a theft of a motor vehicle and trailer that occurred the night of Saturday March 10, 2018. The items were stolen from a private property on Route 4 in the Alfred-Plantagenet Township.

The grey 2009 GMC Sierra 3500 pickup truck and the white 2008 United UXT Trailer filled with machinery equipment are valued at over $180,000 in total. The trailer is a 20 foot white trailer with blue decals on both sides “Gauthier Spray Foam and Insulation” with phone number.

Impaired by Alcohol

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – On Wednesday March 14, 2018, just prior to 12:00 pm, Hawkesbury OPP Constable Sean Chirke intercepted a grey 2004 Ford F150 on Main Street in the Town of Hawkesbury.

The driver was stopped for holding a cell phone while driving his vehicle.

Interaction with the male driver gave the officer reason to believe that he had driven his motor vehicle with his abilities impaired by alcohol.

Alexandre RENAUD (36 yrs) of Grenville, QC was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:

– Driving While Ability Impaired- motor vehicle (Alcohol)

– Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood

He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with “Drive motor vehicle on a highway while using a hand-held wireless communication device”.

The vehicle was seized for 7 days and the driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days.

He was later released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in L’Orignal on March 28, 2018

 

Break and Enter Investigation

Police Seeks Assistance to Identify Suspect Vehicle

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – Constable Matthew Priess of the Hawkesbury OPP Detachment is investigating a residential break and enter incident that occurred the night of March 17, 2018 on Gibbs Road in the East Hawkesbury Township.

The investigation revealed that the culprit(s) gained entry to the residence and barn stealing multiple tools, jerry cans filled with diesel, and tires with Volkswagen mags, valued at over $6,000 in total.

The suspect vehicle is described as a dark colored Chevy Colorado pickup truck.

The matter is still under investigation.

Theft Investigation

Suspect Located and Arrested

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – On March 17, 2018, Constable Matthew Priess responded to a report of a theft of metal industrial racks from a business property, situated on Terry Fox Drive in the Champlain Township.

The image of the vehicle and suspect were captured on surveillance camera.

On March 21, 2018 at approximately 1:50 am, the Hawkesbury OPP officer located the vehicle and suspect in the Town of Hawkesbury. Robert ROUSSEAU (39 yrs) of Grenville, QC was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with Theft Under $5000.



He was later released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in L’Orignal on April 11, 2018

  

Update #3 – Tractor Trailers Involved in Fatal Collision

Investigation Completed – Drivers Charged

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – On November 29, 2016 at approximately 3:40 am, officers from the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), paramedics, Fire Department and OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 417 westbound lanes in the East Hawkesbury Township. The collision involved three (3) tractor trailer units, two (2) of which had been fully consumed by fire, resulting in the fatality of a 36 year old male from St-Mathieu-De-Beloeil, QC.

In February, 2018 as a result of this investigation, the Hawkesbury OPP Detachment has charged two (2) males from Montreal, QC.

Satnam SINGH (37 yrs) of Montreal, QC was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with “Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle Causing Death”.

Haroon YOUSAF (37 yrs) of Montreal, QC was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with “Causing Death by Criminal Negligence”.

They were both released on a Recognizance of Bail and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in L’Orignal on April 4, 2018.

A 29-year-old local man was arrested after climbing fences, entering parked cars and breaking into a garage in the west end.

On March 22, 2018 at approximately 2:30 p.m. the accused was seen climbing fences in the Lakeview and Front Road area. At approximately 3:00 p.m. the accused went through a vehicle parked in the area and fled when confronted by the owner. At approximately 4:30 p.m. the accused broke into a garage and then fell asleep in a car parked inside. The accused fled on a stolen bicycle when confronted by the resident.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. officers located the male in the area of Bath and Gardiners Road. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with possession of stolen property, break and enter, breach undertaking, and two counts of breach probation.



Man Charged in Relation to Sexually Assaulting his Daughter

A 37-year-old Smiths Falls man has been charged by Kingston Police for sexually assaulting his pre-teen daughter.

In March 2018, Kingston Police were contacted by Children’s Aid Society as a result of information received of sexual assaults against a youth. Detectives with the Kingston Police Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit began an investigation and learned multiple incidents occurred between 2014 and 2017 when the victim was between 10 and 13 years of age. The assaults took place while the family resided in Kingston.

The accused was arrested and held to attend a bail hearing. He has been arrested and charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

Kingston Police want to let victims of sexual assault know that it is their choice to disclose the incident to police. If you have been sexually assaulted or abused and are uncertain what to do, please attend the hospital and see the caring and compassionate staff at the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence clinic (SADV). The staff can help you with counselling and coping strategies in addition to providing testing for sexually transmitted diseases and providing access to HIV medication. If you are willing the staff will also complete the sexual assault evidence kit. Evidence can be collected up to twelve days following a sexual assault. Depending on the circumstances it may be possible for DNA evidence to be obtained from clothing after it has been washed. Your confidentiality is guaranteed and police will only be contacted by the hospital if you request it at the time. The SADV clinic will store the contents of the kit for a preliminary period of 6 months which offers a victim time to gather information on the process and decide on how they want to proceed. UPDATE: Police Asking for Information in Armed Robbery

On March 22, 2018 a 19-year-old Gananoque man and a 17-year-old Kingston youth were both arrested as a result of an investigation into the March 15, 2018 robbery. Police anticipate charges for at least one more person in the near future.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. after being contacted by Detectives the 17-year-old attended police headquarters with his mother to turn himself in.

At approximately 3:15 p.m. the 19-year-old was arrested by Kingston Police Detectives at his residence in Gananoque.

Both accused were charged with have face masked to commit an offence, robbery with a weapon, point firearm, use firearm to commit an offence, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a credit card obtained by an offence, and fraud. The 19-year-old was additionally charged with breach probation.

On March 15, 2018 at approximately 3:30 a.m. the victim was in the area of Weller Avenue and Division Street. The victim was robbed of her purse by two male suspects with weapons. The suspects fled in a four door silver vehicle, possibly a Pontiac Sunfire, with possibly a third male that may have been the driver.

Both suspects are white males, early 20’s, with thin builds, medium height, and both wearing balaclavas. One male was wearing a zipped up black and white hoodie.

An unknown male turned the purse in at the Kingston Police front desk, indicating that he found it in a parking lot near highway 15 and the 401. To assist with the investigation, Kingston Police are asking the male to please contact Detective Jim Veltman.
